hey guys, I have a 2015 4.0 and I’m a little low on coolant. Is this something I should be concerned about? I’ve never overheated it or anything and don’t see any leaks.

Also, it still has the Toyota pink coolant in there. What can I add? Does it have to be the pink stuff? Thanks!!

i would just add some clean tap water....but others will tell you how that might blow your truck up.

Just get the pink Toyota pre-mix. Coolant should always stay the same.

Coolant is one thing I stick to OE on. The formula in the coolant is designed to prevent corrosion in the system so I’d recommend sticking to OE stuff from the dealer.

I’ve got a dealer like two miles from my house. I’m just gonna swing by and snag the OEM stuff

I went to toyota and bought some premix. Most vehicles dont care, some do. My wifes old vw needed some special a$$ coolant or the innards would corrode. ever since then i just match the coolant and be done with it. no worries.

Regarding being concerned, I guess i wouldnt be unless adding is a regular thing. My tacoma seems to need about half a reservoir full once a year. There is slight leaking around the reservoir itself, so i chock it up to that most likely. Its not wet or dripping, just if i wipe it up i will notice some crystallizing of coolant after a month or two.

Both Toyotas are due for a complete flush - I'm going with "OEM" brand Pink coolant, which is like $30 for 1 gallon undiluted - which you make into 50/50 using distilled water. So thats like $15 + 0.75 cents for each gallon that gets mixed.

Where do you buy the non-existent undiluted SLLC “pink” coolant? I’ve searched for several years and have never found any.

EDIT - disregard, didn't see that this stuff was different entirely than the pink coolant.

Made by these guys: http://www.oemantifreeze.com/ , whom are Recochem. Its available from Amazon (not giving amazon a freebie link).

I didn't yet read the specs yet to compare additives in Toyota's Pink coolant vs. OEM (Recochem) Pink, but presume its the same stuff since they make all the other special coolants for other manufacturers.

As previously stated, Toyota Super Long Life Coolant (PINK / #00272SLLC2) is DIFFERENT from Toyota Long Life Coolant (RED / 002721LLAC).

you can but the prestone Japanese car pink stuff from the parts store or you an get oem toyota pink coolant from Amazon for $20-25 a gallon.

It is normal for the overflow tank to be a little low, its just the water in the coolant evaporating. Its not crucial that its always at the full mark.

Don't just throw water in it, and don't put any green, orange, or blue coolant in it. Pink only. OEM supposedly has the best corrosion inhibitors, and is the least prone to degradation so thats what i uses
