Not sure why but white is notorious for this I these on white color match Rubi fenders which are plastic and had exact rust spots.

My 19 ordc had the same thing when it came off of the lot. Take it back to the dealership. Its industrial fallout, small metal particles that stick to the paint during shipping. My dealership applied a treatment under warranty.

Uhhhh, have you ever looked at the side of the road on the highway, any highway? There's metal and glass and plastic shavings and shit all over the place on every single highway I've ever been on, has nothing to do with where you live. This metal gets kicked up lands on your paint and then rusts. My paint looks like yours OP, it totally blows. I'm gonna wash, claybar and wax once winter is over, hopefully that'll take care of it.

A very small island surrounded by salt water, far from toxic. I always thought it was from particles from our brakes to be honest.

I like this . Dont trust the dealer with your paint . If you dont know how or dont want to then take it to a good detailer and they can clay bar and seal it for you .

Find one small area where these dots exist, clay bar, wax, clean, etc. as indicted above. If the spots disappear...do the rest. If not, take it to a dealer pronto.

    Quoted for truth.

There are three ways to deal with this, OP.

1.). Fix yourself with the advice provided. You control whether you damage your paint or not (you won’t using the advice provided)

2.). Take it to your dealership and let someone go to town on your paint. I’d put your risk of significant paint marring at about 95%.

3.). Take to detailer and pay a multiple on whatever it would cost to do yourself

Up to you, all options will work

yea just do a small spot see if one comes out. dealer might take out the polishing tool....and you dont want that.

Ive had this before on white vehicles and its very annoying.

I clay barred the truck after I got it, just to get the rail dust off. We good now.

I think I have a pretty good track record on detailing my dark Taco. I also take care of a white Jetta driven by my gf. Somehow that car always has spots and debris attracted to the paint. I’ve clay barred it, polished, and waxed numerous times only to notice something else appearing on it a month or so later. She’s oblivious to any of the issues I see.
It’s parked in a parking garage or driving through Baltimore quite a bit so I think that has something to do with the amount of micro debris it picks up.

Pay attention to the quotes above. Your truck is not rusting from within. The rust is from surface contamination and should be able to be removed without damaging the paint. My guess is that you have not clay barred and sealed your truck since you took delivery. This is an example of why it pays to protect your paint with regular detailing.

OP - My $0.02, would be best to call Toyota corporate and open a case so they can document this situation and take action for a recall or perhaps TSB. The more people to call corporate with this scenario, the better!
