I found a new oem sr bezel on offerup for $30. Such a small change looks so good

Nearest dealer wanted $162 for the SR5 grill before tax, pretty ridiculous price for a plastic trim piece. Therefore I sanded the original chrome one with 220 grit then primed and painted flat black. For under $15 material costs I'm very happy with the results!

Who wears the pants in your house???

    Just kidding LOL!

My ex-wife would have Lorena Bobbitted me if I had spent money on something as frivolous as aftermarket parts. I used to buy tools and have them shipped to my work address and sneak them in after hours, just to avoid any unpleasant scenes.

My current partner is a gem. We each have our own hobbies, and anything I can buy with my own money is OK with her. I don’t criticize her purchase of jewelry and silversmithing supplies, and she doesn’t criticize my vehicular or guitaristic purchases.

Haha yea I went on a buying spree so had to cut back for a bit. I am blessed that she allows me to have a few other hobbies as well so cannot complain. We just had a kid so have to keep the priorities in check to ensure the family is happy

I have not seen anyone do that with the TSS emblem. I believe and someone correct me if I am wrong, that would basically keep your TSS from working. Can you take the clear plastic from the TTS to remove to emblem? I would have to look into that.

Well, took off the TRD Pro grill. Every single Taco I’ve seen in the last month has one, so I’m not regretting it too much. The SR5 surround definitely improves the OEM O.R. grill.

Need! though I dont think it can be done on a '19 since the emblem is in some plastic casing. Am I wrong, or have any of you done it?

You can remove the Toyota emblem along with the TSS. It’s held by some screws, clips and locking washers. However, you wouldn’t be able to paint the emblem. It’s closed in by some sort of resin/plexi glass. The grill itself can be painted though.

    Love this mod.
SR grill surround is so much cleaner then the Pro grill.
I’ll get around to it someday.

Getting rid of the chrome SR surround makes a big difference.

There’s a thread on here somewhere for a guy that makes vinyl decals to cover the emblem. Not my truck, and not sure how it effects the TSS. He makes them in different colors I think.

    See my build page!
@rrentrop makes a vinyl piece that will go on the front of the emblem and black it out.

Swapped mine out today (OR to SR). The lack of chrome is a bit shocking at first, and the darkness makes the grill opening look huge, but...I think I'm going to end up preferring the SR bezel.

I'm also considering painting the original chrome trim in body color, although I'd have to fix the clips -- almost every clip has a fracture in it, though none broke off completely.

Looks great but BBP might look damn good too!

The clips don't matter too much cuz the screws hold the whole thing in anyways

Looks good. Also I like the step bars....Did they come on it or did you buy them aftermarket? What brand?
