I haven’t road tested and I know I’m going to get crap about how they aren’t as bright as the ge 130 mega however if it brighter than what I have and they look cool too then I’ll be happy.

I’ll report back so if any is interested you can get an honest assessment

I guarantee you those LED’s might, at best, barely put as much light on the road as the factory H11’s in a small portion of the beam pattern. In fact from your photos you can see that the beam pattern on the LED’s is patchy and uneven compared to the stock halogens and its even worse on the fogs. For $36 you could have gotten a full set of Hella H9’s for the lows and the fogs from Rallylights and gotten more light on the road with the bonus of being just as obnoxious in the fog reflectors as those LEDs are. But they wouldn’t be 5600K blue-white in color, and sometimes I guess looks are what matters...

    Did you read the thread?

Even in that ridiculously close wall shot, you can see the hot spot dipping below the cut off, indicating loss of distance projection. Extrapolate that out over distance and performance is going to be poor. What you saw on a neighborhood drive is a significant increase in foreground light, which is normal for people to think this is an upgrade after their first drive around the block. Your hot spots are now aimed down instead of outward, so the light on the pavement immediately in front of your truck is increased. It isn't till you need to project light distance at night that you realize your headlights have lost significant functionality.

Even in a well lit room, you can see the halo of glare from running LEDs in halogen reflectors in your fogs, with glare extending above the headlights. I suggest reading this thread to understand what you have done and why that is an awful practice:

To sum up......it's obvious you didn't read the thread...…

Why post in the first place? You just wasted $36 on garbage bulbs. The Hella H9's are about $9 each.

There's obviously no convincing you... Just make sure the head lights and fogs are aimed properly. If the truck did not move in those two photos it looks like your fogs are aimed high now.

This thread should be re-titled Halogen Bulb Fan club. Not trying to start anything here but there is a very device line between LED fans and Halogen fans (with HID peeps doing their own crazy thing... been there, done that). I'm not going to argue the data whatsoever but I have recently installed Supernova V4 equivalents <insert burn remarks here> and have been pleasantly happy with them. After reading all the threads regarding LEDs and Halogens, I really thought the LED bulbs were going to be a total let-down. To my surprise/delight, they have fit the bill for me. My goal was to get better color matching with the low beam headlights compared to the stock DRL/Rigid Fog lights without losing visibility at night (keeping the Halogen brights). My naked eye can see just as well on a dark road between the stock low beam Halogens and the LED's installed. Benchmark objects down a familiar road are just as visible and lit up as before with my halogen bulbs installed. Foreground lighting isn't blowing up and my fog lights still fill that void as intended. With the cutoffs in my stock projectors cutting off glare and any usable light past the cutoffs while aimed down the road, the LED's are doing just fine. No one is getting blinded by them (especially the police officer who passed me on my test run) and my visibility at night with my naked eye hasn't been affected. It's rarely foggy (an occasional morning during spring but visibility is still fine) where I live so the yellow color isn't a desire. I've installed an older HID projector retrofit in my 1st gen Tacoma and I like the output and visibility of the LED bulb better on my 3rd gen. I bought my Supernova V4 equivalents (called the F2 overseas) for $38 shipped. It was a cheap investment to "see for myself" instead of reading about it on the internets. Money well spent.

Again, not starting a flame war here. It's just VERY apparent that the regular posters here are very much fans of Halogens (nothing wrong with that!). Crashburn is also obviously very knowledgeable and I would never question his data. I'm just giving you all my opinion of real-world driving situations with what my 20/20 eyes can actually see while driving at night.

LEDs would be fine in a unit designed to run LEDs, but here we are.

    Glad you like yours.

    No argument from me.

If you (like many others) primarily want colour-matching with acceptable vision, and proper courtesy to other drivers, then all is well.

Most of the contributors to this thread are hard-core individuals who favour throw and pattern and colour rendering over anything else.

Jeeze... as stated... I absolutely have. I even had a 1:1 conversation with him in this thread or one of the many others he's contributed to. As stated before... this group... you guys are becoming very hostile. I think most people are intimidated to post in here. I don't think that's what @crashnburn ever intended. He's been quite pleasant to converse with. The other responses in this thread... jeepers!

Like a police officer on a dark road... yeah, I'm fairly certain he would've have pulled me over if he was "blinded" when I passed him... being the only car coming at him... late at night. Sheesh. Didn't want to start anything so many of you are just waiting to a fight to pick. I'll kindly unsubscribe and leave you all alone. @crashnburn, thanks for the insight you gave me earlier. I ended up going a different route and your information still holds much value to me is I decide to once again go a different route.

    You’re tagging the wrong person..

The jabbing comes at guys who come in and pretty much say his numbers are worthless. He’s done a great service to the forums by doing this for second and third gen trucks. I’m sure you’re happy as a pig in poo with your lights, but the fact is that the halogen bulbs outperform LEDs by a landslide at a fraction of the cost because we have halogen projector lamps.

Glad you like your lights
