2017 Tacoma Trd Pro.. picked this truck up about 3 weeks ago, and have only driven it for 3 days. trucks been at yota now for 2 weeks and they can't figure out whats wrong with it.

Originally went to dealer for noise in blower motor. Toyota said they found leaves in the blower housing. Drove truck home, it was nice the day i picked it up and didn't have heat on or blower. got home out of work at 1130 pm which here in Maine it's pretty cold at that time.. fired the truck up to realize the air selectors (feet, head, windshield) were not working, also no heat, and no heated seats. checked the fuses nothing was out of place. On my return trip to Toyota the next day, the blind spot monitor stopped working and the outside temp gauge. After days with the truck, they found an A/C sensor faulty and replaced that plus them amplifier behind the dash. Today everything was working correctly, til the tech took the truck for a ride, while on ride all dash lights came on and start blinking. He returned to the shop to find all the new parts they installed were all fried..

They are back to square one. Any thoughts? Even what would you do if you purchased a certified used vehicle and this happened to you? Thoughts Idea's 3.2.1 GO

Now you know why the previous owner sold the truck. Even the mighty Tacoma can fail. Obviously, they did not conduct the required inspections for a certified vehicle. Good Luck with Toyota.

2 weeks and they don't know what's wrong with it? Maybe they should just keep it.

I’d give them a go at fixing it, but be ready to push back on the selling dealer to buy it back or lemon law it depending where you live.

I'm not a mechanic by any stretch, but when you start to have a bunch of seemingly unrelated systems fail, then you need to look higher up the tech stack. The whole truck isn't failing; it's a single short/failure that's cascading down through the system... That should make you feel good -- it must be fixable :) Yeah, this is post is worthless.

Sounds like rodents got in and chewed some wires in area that’s not easily accessible...that’s sucks it’s gonna be there for awhile until they decide to pull the dash out for a look see!

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.
I personally am not impressed by Toyota certified. Had mine 3 days and had to buck up $50 for tpms sensor that was broke when they delivered to my house.

I traded my 2016 Tacoma with 6K miles for a 2017 4Runner straight across. I recently sold the 4Runner to buy the 2019 Ranger and have not looked back.

These threads are indicative of Toyota's lack of concern for their fanbase. "They all do that" is Toyota telling me "we are aware of your issues but are not going to do anything about it". That's the not Toyota Tacoma Services I knew and loved.

yeah the rodent thing was what they originally thought was causing the issue's, but after the first week they had already pulled the dash and re traced all the wires, not one out of place or missing insulation. From what the writer said today was they would be scheduling an appointment with a Toyota factory specialist this week. My biggest issue is next week I'm to make my first full payment, on a vehicle I've only had in my possession for 4 days total, and the dealership has had it the rest of the time.

As long as they gave you a rental and are working on the issue, Toyota is gonna consider that good enough. Only extra you might get is a platinum warranty when you get it back.

I don't think the Lemon Law applies at all on a used truck.

Despite the fact that a used car is a much more likely candidate to be a “lemon,” federal lemon laws generally cover only new vehicle purchases. But there is one major exception: if the owner has received an express written warranty along with the used vehicle, then federal lemon law will likely cover the used car.
