After searching high and low for fancy holsters and mounts to store my pistol while driving I looked down and noticed the perfect spot.. no freeplay in any direction, fairly discreet, easy grab and go..

that works but there's so many good mounts for cars and trucks now that allow quick draw.

I've seen so many, magnets, bolt-ons, after using this spot for a short while I've found no need for an installed piece. Note: this happens to work for my 229 with a single clip IWB, not necessarily everyone else, just a suggestion if you've got a similar size

I double checked and did not see this listed:

Cruise control on the 6-speed manual transmission does not disengage when you shift gears or depress the clutch. It will pause then resume when the clutch is released in-gear, up or down shift.

I found this out the hard way while approaching a stop light. Pushed the clutch in and coasted for a few seconds, then down-shifted into 3rd. Truck lurched forward under its own will trying to resume the cruise speed I had set.

Hold up, that’s not true on mine.....if I take the truck out of gear or push the clutch or push the brake it pauses cruise control (meaning it remembers where I had it set but doesn’t power the truck until I tell it to resume)......which is the way it should be

You sure you didn’t accidentally hit resume? Or accidentally let the clutch out too quick and half-stall? If you’re sure, you should get that checked out. That’s a safety issue that you shouldn’t be having.

Yeah I'm pretty sure. I have repeated the effect but I will re-confirm tomorrow.

So I tested more diligently this morning on my commute.

With the adaptive cruise control turned on, the truck will resume the previously set speed after shifting up or down. If the clutch is depressed or the transmission is in neutral for more than a few seconds, the computer will beep and cancel the cruise control. Not sure how long it takes to prompt a cancel exactly, 5 seconds at most.

When the adaptive cruise is off, cruise control gets canceled immediately when shifting or pressing the clutch.

I have a 2019 TRD OR. This appears to be a feature only on newer models with adaptive cruise.

I think you hit the nail on the head.....it must be an adaptive cruise thing. My 17 doesn’t have adaptive cruise.

I guess it makes sense the adaptive cruise wants to get the truck back up to speed, but it sounds like it’s a bit too anxious about it and tries to gun it to get there. You’d think Toyota would dampen the response.

I retested the scenario that startled me initially. Approaching a stoplight at 40mph, downshift from 5th to 3rd, truck was at about 35mph when I let out the clutch. The acceleration did not seem nearly as severe when I was expecting it.

Yes, I am a cruise control fanatic and will use it at 40mph or even slower.

I would think to use cruise control at 50 mph or above on an open road. 40 mph and below is just too much of a risk to wreck your vehicle.

haha I use it at the very lowest it'll let me go.....23mph

Some of the towns here have a really strict 25mph speed limit for quite a ways with cops out and about, so I put it on slow and let it ride

I like the adaptive cruise at low speed because I can shift down going uphill then coast downhill in 5 or 6 without having to reset the cruise control.

Me too. How else is it humanly possible to drive so slow? Cruise control is the best tool for low speed zones.
