Considering I painted the grill with a couple cans of Dupli-color from O'Reilly's... I think it matches pretty good

The auto paint colors Duplicolor offers are actually pretty damn good color wise. Not sure how well they hold up long term but the couple ones I've tried have been nearly a perfect match

I was kind of worried about how it would hold up too. So I sprayed 3/4 of a full can of acrylic clear over the top.

So crawled under the truck today to look things over and I noticed a coolant leak on the backside of the engine/front side of the transmission. It looks like it's leaking from the back of the engine and then running down the drivers side of the trans bell housing onto the steering rack. Only thing I can think of is the freeze plugs are leaking on the back of the engine. Any ideas?

I ditched the factory plastic bedliner and did a rust-oleum roll on. I got a camper shell to go on it but I can’t clamp in on with the drop in. The original had worn out the paint on the 29D202BF-75A6-44A0-AE06-4DF9AF513BC4.jpg 95BF6CC8-EC01-40CC-A296-D3EA14F5C0A9.jpg 771B3AC3-0010-48CF-9B08-543CF91DD277.jpg 956C2353-DE99-43BE-8944-16ABE6B7151D.jpg FFE04BF7-7CC0-4860-BC2A-888FEEC792D6.jpg

Could be the hoses to the heater core, where they enter/exit the fire wall.

***Edit*** re read your post and your saying drivers side. I'd still check and see if the hose coming from that direction is leaking and running down the driver side

Yeah my first thought were those heater core hoses too but checked them and they looked fine. Not sure if there are any coolant lines running under the intake on the rear of the engine, looked there as well but didn't see anything.

Rent the pressure tester from an auto parts store, pump it up and see where it pisses

Crack leaks or just a crack in a weld? If the axle tube is cracked I'd say it is trash

You have a 6cyl? If so, yes, there are coolant lines under the upper intake. (Not sure about how they are on 4cyl) one of those could be leaking. A number of people have mentioned them leaking here.

Ya small leak crack. Even the axles and 3rd member would be trash? Drove straight when I removed the rear end.

You can save the third, I thought you transferred it. The axle on the non cracked side is likely great too. I'd check the other side for run out first but if it checks out run it. Whatever cracked the tune came through that axle and bearing though so I'd be skeptical.

Yeah the 5vz. Just looked and saw the coolant bypass line runs under the intake. Could be that, but it looks like its originating lower down on the engine, which still has me leaning towards freeze plugs. I'll have to get a closer look/pics tomorrow in the daylight.

It may be freeze plugs. But I'm all about trying to rule out the simplest, easiest fixes first

Could it be the heater control valve itself? Mine has a slow leak to it (not OEM, parts store brand) it leaks semi steady when the heater is engaged and before the engine has warmed up. Once it warms up, the leak slows. It’s leaking right at the pivot point where the screw is that attaches the arm. Just a thought.

Yeah so am I. Hope it's something easy because I'd really like to not have to drop the trans.

That's definitely a possibility. I'll check tommorow and see if I see anything leaking from there.
