The group 27 is the play. It fits with the stock hold down if you get the OEM tray from a 2nd gen. The cables also route to it properly as well since the terminals are in the correct place.

The difference between 27 and 31 is only a few Ah. My group 27 X2Power has 92Ah capacity.

Might someone have the Toyota part number for the correct gen 2 battery tray?

    Thanks

How heavy is the upgraded battery. Do you notice a big difference? Some people say they have your battery will destroy the bottom of the fender lol

Good to know. I’m going to be buying my Northstar 27F battery this weekend. I’m going to go to the dealership tomorrow and buy the second GEN battery tray that fits

I just ordered one last month to fit my new 27F in my 2016 Sport.

Also note that the 27F is just a tad taller then the 24F. You can use the existing battery hold down, but it may not fit exactly right. I cut off the fixed j-bolt with my grinder, painted the raw metal and purchased a new j-bolt at the same time.

    J-bolt part# 74451-35090
Nut part# 90080-18071 (the nut was silver but i painted it black)

I may be stupid - but why the bigger battery? Any noticeable difference? Whats the math on this vs cost?

Just installed a Group 24F X2 Power same as the Northstar, made by northstar. Used the factory mount bracket, had to extend the mounting hole up by .5" . Batteries Plus is having a mail in rebate offer right now till the end of June $30 mail in. Paid $278 for a battery listed at $309.

Just extended mine. I cut the tab on the back side of the OEM mount.. Cut some steel and drilled 2 holes and used a nut and bolt with a big washer. Posted pics above

I can see dual batts being useful in long camping trips but starting the truck occasionally and going for a drive will top the batt off with a full charge. Dual batts IMO is useless for my application.

Yeah yeah yeah, it's a mess. Y'all have shamed me into bumping up an aux fuse block project to next on the list - PowerTray and some Blue Sea goodies should be here this week.
