Tires first for sure but I would argue lift next. Let’s face it, we aren’t rock bouncing a lightly modified truck. Mud and tree roots, even the occasional rock isn’t going to puncture the stock skids. Who cares if they get dented - even if they do get punctured: that’s their job! They take the beating so your truck doesn’t. Plus, adding the weight of full armor - stock suspension can’t handle that. You’ll ride your bumps all day
Malleable mild steel is better for taking repeated hits (doesn’t puncture). See above about dents.
You’re better off without them. They bolt to your body, where sliders bolt/weld to your frame. If they take a hit there’s a chance they will transfer that to your rocker panel, which could be even worse than taking the hit to begin with. Plus they sit even lower, meaning you’re more likely to hit something.
I’ve been on weekend shift since 2017. It has its perks. It can suck at the same time though...
Your shop need a good engineer?
Same question as above. 7ish years of turbine engine/aviation experience

Question about the vehicle taxes in KY, is that a one time 6% tax they hit you with? Is there any sort of vehicle inspection?

Also what's the advantages of living on the KY vs OH side if i landed a job in the Hebron area?

    Thank you!

You are taxed every year on the value of your vehicle when you renew your tags. But you pay less tax when you purchase it.

    Presta is pretty accurate.

In KY, you pay property tax yearly and when you purchase a vehicle. Most dealers pay your first year or wrap it into the cost. That yearly tax covers a shitload of things, along with your vehicle registration, but the vehicle tax depreciates with the vehicle value every year.

Only time you need inspected is buying a car from out of state and bringing back to KY. Not sure how it will work in your case, moving to reside in God's country.

I just hate that I have a dent in my rocker and door that I'd have to take to a body shop to remove, that happened while sliders were on order and could've been prevented. Maybe.

When I moved from Ohio to KY. It was literally a 2 minute inspection. The guy walked around the truck and said you’re all good. When my fiancé became a resident, they did the walk around but checked her vin. It’s all dependent on who the inspector is, I had a retired sheriff deputy, and she had one of the clerks do hers.

Ohio does the same thing when you purchase a vehicle from out of state. It’s annoying and adds a small cost to the entire title/registration process but it’s not a detailed inspection by any means. I’ve purchased close to ten cars from out of state in the past...

And in Ohio, you pay tax on the vehicle purchase one time, up front. Yeah, it sucks and the percentage rate varies from county to county. But annually, we don’t have any taxes due on vehicles, only registration. Which reminds me, my tags expired on my birthday three weeks ago (oops) and I’ll need to go pay the $70 or so to renew them...

If you buy the vehicle used from an individual, there is a form to change the value from blue book to sale price . Could save somebody money. Otherwise they do bluebook value.

I look forward to a fat check to them every year. Also, don’t forget, KY is a no fault state, insurance will be a touch higher.

KY says mine is worth less than true value. That's a win for me.

I'm 62, beat up from 17 years of racing dirt bikes, and worst of all, I have MS. (Almost impossible to sleep on ANYTHING) We've slept on an air mattress 2 different times (total of 6 nights) in the last 5 months. I did OK. Actually felt BETTER after a few nights in the tent. Just get a GOOD air mattress. Mine is branded by SERTA. Pretty sure they don't actually make it, but they do feel strongly enough to put their name on it. Not sure where to suggest buying one. Mine is probably close to 30 years old now. Seems like it was from an ad in the back of Four Wheeler magazine....

Also did the "2 kids by a previous marriage" thingy years ago ("Kids" are 43 and 40 now) ....I learned the hard way, go (camping, et al) by YOURSELF once to get it down pat, THEN take the kids on their own trip. Insures "readiness", and makes you look like you know what you're doing for the kids benefit.

Good to know and great advice. I’ll have to research tents and air mattresses. I’m only 34 but a few car wrecks and years of sports have left my back in a messy situation...

And I was thinking the same thing, test out whatever setup I get on my own then take the older one with me and eventually both of them. This three year old phase is killing me though. Just tell me what you want/need kid, don’t just start crying without explanation... and stop picking fights with your sister for gods sake!

I'm going through the same thing with my 3 year old. He talks well enough to get his point across, but he can't be specific when he needs to.

One time inspection when transferring registration from out of state. Essentially just checking VIN #.

Property tax due at registration. On my 2011, total (tx and reg) was $260 and change this year. (Based on book value)
