Just installed my maps. What a pain in the butthole it is to remove those little bulbs. Damn Toyota.

I made a duct tape bowl, roped it around and yanked it out like a loose tooth.

I ended up using packing tape after watching a video. Worked like a charm. Just seems silly that they make the bulb so inaccessible though. Oh well, it's out and the MESO red maps are in! Can't wait to see them in the dark tonight.

Just pull the upper console down and take the bulbs out the back as they are designed to be removed. So easy and literally takes about 90 seconds.

Seems like more work than the tape method :notsure:

By the time you have your tape thing made I would be done and drinking beer while you still fiddle around trying to get the bulbs out.

I dunno. Only took about 15 seconds to rip a piece of tape, wrap and pull the bulb.

It was much easier to pull the console off and remove them from the back...

Ok, so, I got my red maps today, super excited. I just spent about half an hour installing and uninstalling one of the lights. The first one went in like a breeze and turned on (the left one), so I moved on to the other (the right one) and that's where I struggled. I cant get the damn light to turn on! They're on the right sides, because the first one worked (the left one). I basically did the same thing to install the right hand side one and I cant get it to work at all.

Any troubleshooting tips?? Is it a defective light?? It almost seems like it doesn't press in all the way, when compared to the left sided one. I tried pressing the little button in and out a few times and still, cant get it working. I hope I'm not missing something super obvious lol.

Unplug it(right side) and turn wire around. Should work then

Lets see 45 seconds to jerk the console off or 45 minutes searching garage and house for tape finding out there is none drive 40 minutes to get to closest store only to find out they are out of stock have to drive another 15 minutes get there and they only have environmentally friendly tape and we all know it does not stick but what the heck. Pop lens cover peal some tape off to make a tunnel and it folds in on itself scrap and redo 3 times before I get it to work.

Not saying it always happens like this but in my case I have done it the easy way to many times to know not to bother and just manhandle the thing :)

I just got the map lights yesterday and installed, work fine but too bright for me and I am going back to my other LED's.
