Hey guys, I just got a 19 TRD pro and am looking to start making my Mods on the truck.
The first thing i want to do is get a retractile bed cover. Does anyone have any suggestions for the best one?
My overall goal with the truck is to add an addictive desert front bumper, prinsu roof rock, and a bed rack (not sure what kind yet).
I am just starting the mods so I want to get a good bed cover that will work with a bed rack (eventually).

Get a softopper. It’s well built and full cab height for larger items. You can take it on and off in a couple minutes.

There are a few bed racks out there that will fit around it.

I have a Revolver X4. Really like it. If you want to go with a bed rack I think you going to have to see how they mount. Make sure it's compatible.

    X4
    Pros:
Looks Fantastic, Matte finish looks like factory install
Locking, When closed the side rails lock the top down
Top can be easily removed. Kind of a pain because of the location. But it's 4 nuts and the whole top comes off.
No loss of bed space. Some of the retractable covers go into a box in the front. Means you lose the front 12" or so.
Hard top. When closed it's nice because you can set stuff on it unlike a soft cover. Pretty sturdy can hold a fair bit of weight.
Quick to open. Pull one handle and roll. Get to the front and throw a strap around it and it stays put.

    Cons:
When cold it doesn't roll as easily. When I say cold I mean -20F or so. I got mine in January, in MN and there where a couple days where I could barely get it rolled flat.
It lowers the side attachment points, The rails on either side get moved down. You can then see the primed portion of the fenders/box. (Read I'm picky....)

I have a Diamondback HD cover and love it. It looks good and is structurally sound. Best part is you can tie stuff down on top of it.

I really is great but comes with a great price tag as well. They also have a SD model.

One key observation that for me would have made a difference.

The rolling RIDGED toolbox that is very popular will not fit with a cover that sits flush across the bed rails. I would buy a model that sits on the bed rails if I was to do it all over.

    Nothing...yet
I have the same cover and love it. Only Con I would add is that I have not found anyone that sells a set of rails that will support a tent.

As mentioned the DiamondBack line up is very popular among the Overland industry. Another option to consider since you mentioned wanting a retractable cover would be the Retrax XR. This model has been designed to specifically to be very versatile. Leitner Designs is finishing up their ACS rack that will work with the retractable cover.

If you are going to get a bed cover and a bed rack, you might need to look for which ones are compatible with each other.

I like a camper shell myself. I'm not sure I'll ever have a truck without one again.
