LOL. Supposedly they have a cushion to prevent that. But will have to see once it comes out.

So do the northshore racks... and that's one of the flaws of that design.

I see. I really like the design of the vertical racks. the weight isnt so far back off the truck.

Lucky for me, my bike is old and scratched as sh!t. Even the SC emblem has broken off and missing somewhere after a crash. LOL

I think if your bike has a straight top tube it should be fine. As long as youre not speeding down dirt roads.

You might be able to hit up Alta Racks on FB and see if Ali still has a demo rack for sale. I think he had one that he had a discount on last time I looked.

Alta is the vertical rack that holds the bike by the front wheel instead of the work right?

Yup. Good prices from all the big brands, minus saris. They have a 1upUSA style rack that should be releasing this spring. I’m half holding out for that release, and half trying not convince myself to just bite the bullet and get a 1up.
Don’t hold your breath. I’m pretty sure 20% will be the max discount you’ll find on Yakima at REIs quarterly sales.

20% wouldnt be too bad. With the 20% coupon right now it brings the rack to $480 plus my dividends will be $420. But im in no rush so im going to wait to see if ill be at a bigger discount.

That’s what I’m telling you. Historically I don’t ever recall REI extending any more than 20% off Yakima or Thule. Unless you have a pro deal, 20% is about as good as its going to get.

Oh, I read that as $420 in dividends. Not final cost is $420. My bad.

My record is ~ $350 because I got all my climbing and outdoor gear stolen and I went to REI to replace it all with the insurance check. This year, it was like $17

Bummer on the gear being stolen but nice to have all new gear! That happened to me once. But I just boulder so replacing shoes and chalk bag wasnt too bad.
