Got my 255/85/16 ST Maxx installed this week......I've got a stock TRD Pro suspension with OEM TRD Pro wheels......no rubbing at full lock (haven't been at full stuff yet) and they ride quiet and track straight. Really happy I pulled the trigger. Spare tire fit no problem.

255/85r16 S/T MAXX going on my DCLB OR right now!!

The tech warned that my ABS wouldn’t work going up a couple sizes. I assume that’s BS?

Either way, I have techstream downloaded and I assume I can reprogram with that if necessary

The ABS will still work fine.

The ABS works off of wheel speed sensors.....traction control kicks in when the two wheels spin at significantly different speeds. Since your tires are the same size, you’ll be fine.

But curious why the st Maxx is so popular. Could it be because the km3 were not available in this size till recently?

KM3’s released2 weeks ago. Not much feed back on the size yet. I bit the bullet and am giving them a shot. I loved my ST Maxx’s last season

The ST MAXX is a hybrid AT/MT while the KM3 is a true MT

So they’re not really apples to apples. They’re a great option for those of us that don’t want an MT full time

Oh cool, I did not know the Maxx was a hybrid tire. Interesting. I've never seen them up close so I guess I'll have to check out my local shop and see if I can get a closer look in person.

After a week and a couple hundred miles on my 255/85/16 ST MAXXs I agree with this.....no noticeable loss of power for acceleration (keep in mind I've got a 6MT) but there is a noticeable loss in breaking power.....takes more push on the pedal to slow the truck. Not a deal breaker, but noticeable. Makes sense, these tires are 15# heavier than my last set.

I really want to go this route, what are you guys paying per tire and mounting if mail order?

I’m leaning towards the bfg KM3 and on tire rack they’re $242 each.

My ST Maxx's were $204 each on Amazon back in January.

I then paid $130 to mount and balance all 5 tires.

    Thanks much!
It’s been a long time since I bought tires, my last ones where bfg 33x10.5x15 at $150.

That seems awfully cheap to mount & balance.

    Which state?

I would have thought places would gouge you to m/b tires they didn’t sell.
