Bad Injectors

Maybe the OP should change where they buy gas. I certainly won't.

 

Again, our trucks simply don't need them. You can run up to 15% ethanol with no issues. I've never even seen a gas station that sells more than 10% ethanol mix.

 

Every vehicle sold now can handle a mixture up to 15 % ethanol. Anything with a high content of ethanol must be a flex fuel vehicle and will have a badge. They have different injectors and they are very expensive. I think back when I worked at a dodge dealer they were like ~$700 each.

Plenty of gas stations that sell E70 or whatever. They change the mixtures I think for winter. Maybe it’s E100 in the summer. They are starting to take them out though. Because no one buys it. Plus if you put that shit in a small engine accidentally than it’s pretty much toast.

 

I believe I see injectors go for about $100 a piece on fleabay. $235 - $400 for oem which is insane.
How the heck can it be a $2100 estimate ?

 

Labor. Some guy just posted about getting a $600 quote for spark plugs.

$700 is ridiculous. But I believe it.
$4200 for injectors plus labor could total your truck one day.

 

Clean em up or pull em from a junkyard get er running and trade it..screw 2k injector repair, I’d rather eat it on a trade.

 

Well that would be $600 for injectors and $1500 for the bend-you-over-so-they-can-screw-you on the labor. About two hours for each injector, right?

 

800 for both still pretty crazy.

 

When I changed injectors on Jeeps I pulled the rail, popped out 6 injectors at $75 bucks a piece, slapped it back on in 45 minutes. 5 minutes for the beer included.

 

Like take a $5000 dollar loss trading-in to avoid a $2000 repair? Does that make sense?
