Hello hope everyone and their trucks are doing great. I have a small problem and I need help. My passengers side front window stopped working, neither the driver's switch, nor the passengers switch will operate the window.

Scenario: I parked the truck (95% sure both windows were completely up). I ran some wires for some aftermarket electronics (Dead runs, I haven't hooked anything up to the truck's electrical systems yet, I just put the wires in place) This is important because I fear I may have jostled some of the wires in the harnesses that are beneath the driver's side door-sill/kick-plate.

Either way, after I got done buttoning everything up, I took the truck for a drive and I could hear wind noise coming from the passengers side window, it was now open just enough to hear the wind noise, but you can't see the opening. The driver's side was completely up.

    Other notes:
-I've checked the fuses for continuity with a multimeter, they're fine
-The drivers side window works fine
-I'm getting 12V at the passengers side window switch, haven't checked anywhere else

    My Theories:
    -Passengers side window motor died
-I accidentally broke a wire somewhere that tells the motor to do stuff
-Both switches for the passengers window failed simultaneously (Unlikely)

Any suggestions or ideas for troubleshooting? I'm about to jump 12V to the window motor to see if it still works, does anyone have the wiring diagram?

There are a couple you tube videos that talk about switch problems. My wifes outback had something similar as well, and it was related to the fact I had cut power to the car when i replaced the battery. One switch would work and the other did not. Found instructions on the net on how to reprogram it and it now works perfect

I do not believe it's a switch problem. My reason for believing this is because neither the Drivers side switch, nor the passengers side switch will operate the passengers window. But the switch for the drivers window does still work. It would be unlikely that 2/3 switches failed at the exact same time.

    Broken wire in either door?

Did you use the switch harness to get your ground when you got your system voltage at the switch or another ground ??

Check the Motor see if it did not fail

just moving wires should cause no problems unless the wires were about to fail only having a few strands intact

Thank you for your response. I haven't connected any aftermarket wires yet to anything in the truck, I just put them in place. My guess is the motor died. I just haven't gotten around to pulling it out of the door panel yet. Is there an electrical schematic available for the motor so I can test it? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

See attached for the window schematic. Check all the fuses, there are several which you need to be in order to work the windows. The window lock button interrupts the ground to the circuit for all other windows except the driver so if that window lock button is depressed or bad, none of the windows will work except for the drivers window.

I forget some people might never think of that I forget to mention it because it is the first thing I check so easy to bump the switch

    Good luck!
I once vowed never to get power windows but my new ride has them.
Always thought if I went off a bridge and was underwater I'd want to be able to roll the window down...

Get it resolved? As some have mentioned above, the first thing to check would be the window lock button. Sounds dumb, but after wiring my ditch lights my passenger window also stopped working. It freaked me out for about 30 seconds before realizing that I had inadvertently pressed the passenger window lock. I felt stupid.

You can see the inside plastic switch is falling apart. I will have to buy a new one.

Thank you everyone for your responses. Admittedly, I've been focused on other projects. I did check the lockout switch, but that doesn't appear to be the issue. Great suggestion though as it didn't even cross my mind to check! I think I checked the correct fuses, the labeling in the fuse box is a bit confusing, but the ones that could be related all check good for continuity with my multimeter. I think my next step is still going to be to remove the old motor/regulator and replace it with a new one.

I'm thinking about going with this one, but I can't fathom a $34 motor/regulator would be any good. But it's better than being broken, right? - https://www.carparts.com/details/To...VxR-tBh2SnwziEAQYAyABEgKAr_D_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Ok the problem has been resolved. As many of you mentioned.... It was the window lock out switch. I am not a smart man.

Glad it was a cheap fix anyhow! That's why this forum is here to help, sometimes to just point out the obvious that one might have overlooked :)
