@JasonLee I got the truck loaded up with camping gear so I've been running the airbags for a few days now. It works great, and the ride just feels like it does when the truck is unloaded without the airbags. I'm super happy with the whole setup. I'm going to take the truck on a 3 day off-road trip this weekend, so I'll let you know how they do.

The bags are solid mounted and not hitting a cradle? Won't they be acting as limit straps then?

The bags have more travel than my shocks or leaf springs do, so no need for a cradle.

Hey when you get a chance would you mind getting some hub to fender measurements?

Awesome  I love the idea of a bag setup. Two second gen's in my crew are already running them.

It's great to have the right spring rate for whatever load I have. I never did like the idea of daily-ing on expo springs just so I can haul my rtt and camping gear every once in awhile.

I'll get you the measurements once I have my canopy and rtt off my truck. With all that gear and my airbags, the numbers will be a little different than what they are with the truck in daily driver mode.

Why air bags and not something like sumo springs?

I’ve been looking at sumo springs. I just want a way to quickly remove/install only when I need them.

You're stuck with one spring rate with the sumo springs. Probably takes about the same install time as the airbags too.

Swung by @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc today to pick up some fox roost guards. With a little bit of jimmy rigging I was able to make them work on my ADS shocks. My last set of shocks chipped to the point where it was damaging the oil seal, so I'm trying to not go through the same experience with these ADS shocks.

What did you have to do to make them fit? Trimming, zip ties, epoxy ... ?

At first I just drilled the mounting hole out to 7/8'' which is the diameter of the shock shaft, but the roost guards were floppy. To fix this I took a rubber stopper and made a bushing out of it that added support further up and down the roost guard.

Can you post a photo of the back side to show this? I'll probably be doing this once I can afford ADS coilovers + rear shocks.

I just found your thread and was going to say if he hasn’t found out it’s a body grounding issue the I was going to have to chime in soon.

Happened to me 4 years ago my body ground (before I had dual batteries) wire broke and the truck drove like shit.

How do you like your 4.56 gears with the SC? Trying to decide if I want 4.56 or 4.88

    Alright back to reading

The ground issue really sucked. I threw a lot of money at parts and diagnostics before I found the loose wire. Glad it got resolved and wasn't a bigger issue.

The supercharger and 4:56 gears are great. I had about an extra 1000 lbs in my truck this weekend and the truck was able to cruise up mountain passes at 80 mph. I would only get the 4:88's if you plan on running 35's soon, otherwise get the 4:56 gears for the lower highway rpm's.

The trip out to the alvord was a huge success. After the first night camping at the whitehorse hot springs, an overlanding group rolled in and told us about a route through the mountains between whitehorse and the playa. That route ended up being incredible and a highlight of the trip. The weather was perfect minus a few chilly nights. Good times were had.

To the few people interested how the airbags did: They were awesome! Had 0 issues and they did exactly what I needed. Only thing that I learned is the adjustable compression on the rear shocks is a must. Once the bags were aired up to 28 psi, at my daily driving setting (7 clicks in from the softest setting), the rear end was super boaty and rebounded too fast. Being able to adjust the ride height is really nice, but I just don't think it would be worth it without the compression adjusters. At about the 17 clicks in on compression, the shocks felt like they were back to having the rear end completely under control.

So what about stock 4.10's, 32" tires and supercharger? What do you think about that combo?
