When I get to work I'll post up links (easier than doing it on my phone) of the study guide and online practice test I used.

5 bucks (Kindle) for the guide and free "unlimited" practice test.

I studied hard while at work and then at night for about a month and a half. Missed only 3.

    KC3MOY is my call sign.

Nice! Gonna play with this on my radio. If the 5 is capable the 8 should definitely be. I would think.

    Thanks Randall!

Yeah, they've seen better days. Kinda sad because theyre not even three years old. I ended up getting a newer leaf pack with an AAL from @UntamedTaco that i'll install when I get my new shocks. Should do the trick until I decide to upgrade to Dakars.
thanks! i've been looking at this guide https://www.kb6nu.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2018-no-nonsense-tech-study-guide-v1-1.pdf
I'm gonna try to take the exam on 4/13

Now I understand why you scooped those leafs from him. My buddy has a 15 TRD Pro and he got new leafs made for the rear. Poor thing was so saggy before. Now it's perfect.

When I did it, I used an app on my phone to do practice tests. The test used a question bank of a lot of questions, and the practice test also used the same question bank, so I just memorized most of the questions and answers by taking the test over and over again.

My old leafpacks were frowning, that's why when I ordered my suspension lift I bought new leafpacks. I wasn't wasting my time with AAL.

Ok, here is what I did. I bought ($4.99) the Kindle online study guide from Amazon:

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B079S3LJ8B/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_d_asin_title_o06?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Then, using my tablet and wireless headphones I was able to use the Text-To-Speech feature and just listen to the study guide while working. If you have more free time then just reading it on your phone, tablet or a computer is as effective. This study guide is one of the best out there because compared to other resources it only gives you the information for the correct answers. Some study guides will, like the actual test, try to trick you. I preferred this over those immediately. Just learning the correct answers was key for me.

Then, like Tyler mentions below, I would take practice tests. I would take one in the morning when I got here at work to see what I retained from the day before. I felt this would be as close to the actual exam day as possible. Then after listening all morning, take another exam at lunch. Then after listening all afternoon another exam before leaving work. Then finally, after dinner, I would just take another exam to see..........

Overkill? I don't think so. My days are very hectic and my profession requires a lot of brain work so I knew jamming more in there would require as much studying as possible. I also only had a month and a half to prepare. I missed 3 questions, and was invited to take the General exam that day I did so well. One of the testers failed that day. Also, I am older and not a genius.

Here's the online practice exam I used. You can select which area of study you want it to test you on but I just selected them all so the pool was from all 400+ questions. I knew that is how the real test would be.

Here's the link to the test I used:

    http://aa9pw.com/technician-license/

I also bought a Baofeng radio and added the larger battery, a better antenna, and an external magnetic mount antenna, oh, and Randy said, a mic.

    This ^^^ FTW!! :fistbump:

Good choice Tony! I plan on buying the car charger (12v cigarette style) so I can charge during the day.

I'm trying to limit the things I need to charge at night on overnight trips.

I want to prepare for multi-day trips and will need to charge things like camera batteries, cell phones, etc. I know the truck battery is ok for that overnight but I will also have a fan running in my tent :anonymous: maybe a big screen tv :anonymous::anonymous:

Wow, you really did a lot of prep. I'll check out the book and get to work. Thanks Rob
And it seems like thats the radio a lot of people are using. I'll probably do a similar setup once I get licensed
