I'm dating my self, times were diffrent.
No car, first car was after I was discharged from the military (1970) 1967 Dodge Coronet D 500 mussel car.
No horse, No buggy.

Did a lot of walking (3miles each way).
If I was lucky the girls with cars would pick me up.
Sometimes I got a ride in a police car as my father was a policeman.
Yes times were diffrent but the memories (good and bad) were worth it.

I was looking at similar aged cars to your Cougar. Toyota Sedans - Crown, Corona, Corolla. Rusty, beat, thread bare.
I happened to be first response to a classified ad for a Toyota I'd never heard of - Celica, figure WTH price was good.
Man was I shocked to find out Toyota made sports cars!
Guy was being transferred to England, car was just over 100k on the clock w/ 2 accidents. Only a young kid would be optimistic enough to buy that car. But I snapped it up & it was a great car for many years. (and cheap to buy, to run, to own.)

Dad was sure shocked to find out Toyota made sports cars.
"I thought you were going to get one of those Toyotas that rate so well in Consumers Reports?"
"It is a Toyota Dad"

Well Firestone says it's my front coilover making the noise. Only charged me $10 for the diagnosis. That's good news if it's true. Won't know for sure until I get them swapped out for the new Fox's. Pretty sure I can get the coilover out without dropping the lower control arm. Looks like I only need to disconnect the swaybar endlink. I remember 10 years ago when I installed my lift, I was able to maneuver them in without dropping the lower control arm but I did have the upper control arm out of the way because I was putting in TC UCA's at the same time.

Still thinking about doing my LCA bushings anyway but might be expensive labor for a shop to do it. Maybe if the clunk goes away after I do my shocks, I'll wait to do the LCA bushings until fall when my son goes to college. Then I will have a spare car to drive in case the bushing replacement does not go as planned and the Taco is down for a while.

 

In other news - I've been working on a room remodel at home. It was the kids playroom but they are all older now and the room became a dumping ground for stuff. Got my wife to clean out the room and I'm taking it for myself now - man cave of sorts. Anyway, I decided to do a coffered ceiling. Holy crap is it a lot of work. Started 4 weeks ago by ripping out the carpet. Have only had 1 weekend to work on it so I've been spending almost every evening on it after work. Plan was to spend March and April on it and then I want to be outside when the weather gets nice. Couple more weeks and it should be done except for the floor. Plan to tile with long rectangular wood grain looking tiles. I've tiled before and that should only take about 3 days. The thing is, after spending on shocks for my truck and this room remodel - furniture for this room will have to wait. So the room will be remodeled but the 25 year old stripped couch will be going back in there - temporarily. It's torn and dirty because it's been in the kids playroom for forever. Maybe I can disguise it with a sheet and some fabreeze.

I splurged a little, and bought new sneakers after having the same ones for over a year...

I got these in the mail yesterday (the pics are from the internet, not pics I took). They are super comfortable! They are Game Of Thrones edition.

 

Hmmm, ok so talking about first cars..... My first car was a 4 year old 1985 Pontiac Sunbird with 64k miles. Sold it in '93 to buy my dad's old '87 S10 blazer with only 33k miles. Then there was a period where we started a family and felt like we needed a minivan. Dodge no less - '98 Caravan. Very versatile but horrible to drive. Then in 2002 I bought my mom's '95 Monte Carlo with only 18k on it. Had to replace the 7 year old dry rotted tires. Only bought it because of the great deal and low miles but sold it 8 months later for my first Tacoma. Used but only 3k miles on it. It was a 2001 xtra cab. Off-roaded it a bit but ultimately couldn't handle the stress off potential trail damage on my DD. Plus a third kid meant I needed a full back seat. So onto my current ride - 2009 DC Sport. Never owned any vehicle past 120k. Except this one. Closing in on 181k and still going strong. No intentions to trade up anytime soon. If I have it another 4 years I will be looking at about 250k miles.
