funny you should ask this, I am in the same boat. I just bought the type of rack below for about $100.
Going to get some angle iron space it away from the top. Curious to see what you do. :thumbsup:upload_2019-3-27_8-24-20.jpg

I made mine. Not sure if @Mobtown Offroad is still working on one. There was something in the works a while back.

That's dope. Did you bolt on the brackets at the bottom there to the bed or clamps?

I assume they are the same, I have a softopper, it has a weatherstrip attached to the bottom of the rail that runs the length of the bed rail. Once I get the bracket made i will see if I have to trim it, hoping to just compress it and have it seal "well enough". By my rough initial measurements(if i remember correctly), its approx 2.5 in to center of bed rail channel and i need about 5" out to clear the top. so i found this angle iron, I plan on purchasing it this weekend

I bolted them down to the bed rails. Makes it universal for multiple bedrack setups. I also made a flush mount bedrack that bolts to the same mounts.

It'll be installed in a couple hours. Also got tracking info on the new tool today. Should be here next week and you're first on deck once it's set up.
