Anyone know the source/cause of any rattling somewhere near the glove compartment? it doesn't seem to be the glove box door/hinge/lock but its driving me batty. It sounds plasticy and from the interior.

I've only had two rattles which I was able to determine fairly quickly. One was from the passenger area which turned out to the passenger seat belt buckle banging against the pillar. The other was from the rear passenger area. Turned out to be the rear seat headrest which was stored behind the seat.

someone was able to figure out on cold days it was the dashboard by the pillar. they shoved something in between and the rattle went away.

is it like a very intermittent low creaking?

I dealt with that one a month ago :)

its possible to describe it as creaking, and it does happen on cold days before that cabin warms up. I'm gonna wedge something in there and see what happens.

I've had this from day 1. It went away when I took off the A-pillar and tightened the bolt (as part of upgrading tweeters). Then it came back then it went away, then it... etc. etc. Now I don't even care any more. It's a truck, whatever.

Speaker grille/A-pillar. A small pc of felt between the two. Also some have had the auto headlight senor in speaker rattle, with, and without senor. The blank plug, without auto headlights.

I had the A pillar squeak. I then noticed a rattle from the glove box.

The A pillar squeak was resolved with adhesive felt any where the plastic made contact with any other item. (Where touches speaker cover. Where it seats in to the dash/corner.)

The glove box rattle took more investigation. It turned out the tray was the culprit. I used the adhesive felt on the feet that seat the tray and the back & sides it touches plastic. All is quiet now.

I have a small one from my dash near the passenger side somewhere. Only seems to pop up when it’s cold like mentioned above.

ill check this out too. I had to do an almost identical "fix" on my old 4runner so I still have a nice roll of fine felt around. I haven't looked at the tray at all yet.

Rattle/Crackling sound on front right is the clip that attaches dashboard speaker to dashboard. Carefully pry speaker cover open, then re-snap in.

After I replaced my top dash speakers I developed a rattled sounded plastic-y coming from the passenger side. I took the A pillar on and off about 4 times making sure it was right. The source? My sunglasses in the overhead holder. Sometimes it’s the most simple thing you overlook

I just fixed my glovebox rattle. Previously had done the a pillar speaker fix as well. In regard to the “glovebox” rattle, I noticed that I could silence the rattle by pushing down on the open glovebox door. If you can do the same, it’s fixable. Remove the padded panel above the glovebox. There are some brackets above the glovebox that you can insert some foam or wedges of some kind just to separate from the top of the glovebox. I also felt taped and stuffed foam wherever there could be any chance of a rattle. Problem solved. Good luck.
