I don't have a Tacoma, but lots of mirrors!
Update 10/20/2024 - Yep, the mirrors are still available!! :) And for you 2020 thru 2023 model year Tacoma owners...be sure to read the important note in red below.

    Hi Everyone,

Due to frequent requests as of late, I figured it best to start a new thread regarding the availability of the Gentex frameless mirrors that we have available for the 2016-2023 Tacoma.

We have three options for frameless mirrors for your Tacoma...auto dim only, auto dim with Homelink® V5 and auto dim with compass and Homelink® V5. These all have the latest version of Homelink® that will work with all openers, current and prior. And if you have a new enough opener that is also equipped with the garage door status indicator option, the Homelink® mirrors have the garage door up/down indicators (these will only work if your opener correspondingly has this feature - see your opener's documentation for more info). On these mirrors, the power button is backlit in green. The Homelink® buttons are backlit white, and on the mirrors with compass, the display is green (sorry, that's the only choice & no sign of any other color being offered!)

For 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 Tacoma's equipped with the factory auto dim or compass auto dim mirror that has the 12 pin plug, all of these Homelink® mirrors are plug and play. These will also fit the 2020 thru 2023 trucks; however, please scroll down a bit to see the important notice in red regarding a wiring issue on these model years. These will also work on the trucks equipped with the optional safety systems & won't interfere with any of the sensors located on the windshield. Please note that because of the design of these mirrors, with them having a cable coming thru the stem of the mirror with the 12 pin connector attached to the cable, you will need to remove your truck's overhead console to be able to pull the excess wiring up and out of the way once you install the mirror. See the picture below showing a sample of the "cable-thru-stem" type of mirror. Otherwise if your truck has the plain mirror, a universal wiring harness will be included as you'll need to wire in the mirror on those trucks as Toyota is no longer pre-wiring for them from the factory. The mirror wiring is available in a connector in the A pillar so if you have to wire yours in, we will include some info on where to find the wiring so you shouldn't have to hunt around for it.

Kits available for the 2005-2015 trucks too...for those see our other thread: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/gentex-frameless-homelink®-mirrors-for-2005-2015-tacoma.601310/

    Pricing on the mirrors:
Frameless auto dim mirror with green compass display & Homelink® V5: $329 plug & play version or regular hard-wire kit.
Frameless auto dim with Homelink® V5 & Homelink® Connect: $249 plug & play version or regular hard-wire kit.
Frameless auto dim only (no Homelink®): $129 plug & play version or regular hard-wire kit.

The Homelink® buttons are normally operable at all times on the mirror with compass display only; if you need them to only operate only when the ignition is on, not a problem...just let us know! On the Homelink® Connect mirror, the buttons only operate with the ignition on.

Prices do not include shipping; 7% sales tax is additional in Indiana, +$30 additional shipping to Canada.

We have numerous other options for mirrors, not only for the 2016-2023 Tacoma's, but for the other generations as well as other Toyota's and many, many other vehicles! So if you need a mirror for anything else you drive, PM me, and we should be able to get you set up with a mirror!

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING 2020 thru 2023 MODEL YEAR TRUCKS it has been determined that many 2020-2023 Tacoma's do not have power to the constant hot wire in the mirror plug (this is the wire on the bottom row of the connector). Even though the wiring is there, it's dead. This is actually not something new...Toyota pulled the same shenanigans with the Camry a few years back & put the wiring in place, only to find out the wire is dead. So for anyone with a 2020 thru 2023 Tacoma who is wanting to purchase one of our Homelink mirrors, by default, we will ship the frameless mirrors wired so that ignition-switched power is sent to the Homelink buttons, allowing the mirror to be plug & play. In the event that your truck DOES NOT happen to have the dead constant hot wire & you wish for Homelink to be operable at all times, please let us know when ordering one of these mirrors. This option is also available for the 2016-2019 Tacoma in the event you'd like to have Homelink only operate when the ignition is on.

Please email me directly if you're interested in a mirror - info@bobsmirrors.com (email is the best way to get ahold of me as I am not able to be on the forum as much as I'd like to be).

Thank you & have a blessed day!!

Will the compass be available in blue eventually?

Right? Do cars still use 90s green on anything anymore?

Don't hold your breath. Unless one of the carmakers decides to offer these in their vehicle and wants blue display, it's very unlikely Gentex will offer them in blue. There were a few times in the past where Gentex started offering mirrors with compass display that weren't usually available to the aftermarket after some carmakers decided to start using that particular mirror in their vehicles...so in that case, as long as the mirror didn't have some kind of exclusivity agreement, they could offer the mirror to the aftermarket as otherwise it wouldn't make sense from a manufacturing standpoint. Currently the frameless and semi-frameless mirrors only have two compass color options...green and red, that's it. And now with Toyota no longer offering the compass display in the mirror on most of their vehicles starting with the 2019 model year, the chances of Gentex offering these mirrors with the compass in another color are extremely slim.

Loving my new frameless homelink mirror thanks to Bob. Direct plug and play into the factory plug. I used to have the auto-dimming with compass stock mirror. I went back and forth whether I should get the Gentex with compass but due to being green opted out. Happy with my decision.
Love the clean look, the availability of homelink, and the ability to raise the mirror damn near the roofline giving me more field of vision.
    Thanks Bob!

Maybe pull your plug down and take a picture. I can compare it to my plug wires and see if they match.

If you're referring to the mirror pre-wiring like the 2015 and prior trucks had, they aren't. Starting in the 2015 model year, Toyota began to remove the mirror wiring, so even some 2015's were built with no mirror wiring in place. But once the 2016's rolled out, unless your truck was equipped with the factory auto dim compass mirror, then there was no wiring tucked away for you. However...the good news is that you don't have to look too far, as the mirror wiring runs thru a 25 pin(?) plug located in the base of the driver's side A pillar. So at worst you would have to run the wiring from the mirror, down the A pillar, and then tap into the existing wiring there.

Is there a harness I could purchase to make it plug and play? Or do I have to tap a wire?

It's direct plug-in play if you have the wiring for a mirror with a compass. I chose to not have the compass in mine yet it still plugged directly in. Easy 5 minute install.

Trucks that have the plain/manual mirror from the factory do not have the wiring in place up to the mirror...on these, you would have to tap into the wiring that is present in a connector located toward the bottom of the drivers side A pillar.

I got mine a while ago from another member. I love it, even with the green compass letter and power button. It looks wayyy better than the stock and works better too.

Still no wiring is going to be in place...we've dealt with a number of 2018+ Tacoma owners that have trucks with the safety features, and no wiring on those as well, sorry to say.
