the super 44 sounds pretty good, deep, gurgley sound, but it is a cheap muffler

It did sound VERY good with headers, ypipe, and 3" exhaust on my second gen from the OUTSIDE.
My gawd, inside at 70ish down the highway I was rattling inside my own dome

Agreed. The Super44 was great outside the truck. Then I hit the highway on the way home and at about 1500 RPM cruise it started to dig into your brain.

Ive put exhausts on quite a few vehicles. Been able to use youtube to get an idea for all of them and be very pleased with my purchases.

NONE of the ones on youtube sound good. ZERO.

lol I can imagine with all that other stuff. I am literally just running the muffler. I had a flow master on my other Tacoma and this 3rd gen sounds a hell of a lot deeper and rumbles when hot, but the drone is minimal. My wife and I have inside voice conversations to which I have even asked her, "Do you think the exahsut is annoying", she replied, "No, I like it more than how it was stock". Moral of the story, happy wife...well you get it.

well that's not surprising. "sound good" is subjective. Just like I didn't like the Super44, but other guys with it do. It's just a preference. Lighten up, Francis.

yeah, you can't compare the 2nd and 3rd gen for exhaust. Completely different.

I run a flowmaster super 44 and its a nice grumble on idle and pops a little bit on engine braking. Some times the drones is to much @ 2k especially with 400 lbs of steel, 33" tires and 3" lift. Other times when I'm having fun its awesome its perfect.

I know people say no hp gains on just exhaust but here has to be less flow restriction and lighter than stock be worth something.

those people haven't tried a full open flow (no sound deadening media) exhaust. that's where the magic happens. once you have it open, even with resonators, and there's no media to restrict past the front cats, the performance changes obviously. no dyno required for that one believe me. it's not about a single muffler or component. it's the whole package, in my case also including a tune.
