I can confirm 255/80/17 st maxx on 4 runner pro wheels rubs on the bottom of the fender flare on stock suspension TRDOR, nothing terrible, little Dremel time fixed it right up. Haven't hit cab mount and have cycled suspension well.

They combine cheap with a known name. Nobody runs Mastercraft Coursers because they've never heard of them, but Cooper is a well known name.

Ok, sorry if this has been asked already, has anyone put 255/85/16 on a completely stock SR 4x4? Just curious about rubbing issues on said setup. Thanks!

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
You should be fine. For the suspension, the only thing Toyota changed between trim level's is the shocks.

Is this size only available in mud terrain? Any all terrain winter rated sizes from reputable brands? Thanks!

The Mastercraft Courser CXT claims to bridge the gap between MT and AT, mine are M+S rated, and handle fantastically in the snow and rain, they've got great siping on top of the mud terrain sized tread lugs. Mastercraft is a division of Cooper, so there's your reputable brand link. They are loud, and ride like any E-Rated tire (read, poorly over 30psi) but I really like them overall.

Thanks. Def worth looking into on my next set of tires. I like the idea of skinny tires on our winter roads up here. Curious how noticeable mpg and power loss were for you.

Power loss was about 5% ish, definitely there but not bad. If anything I've gained MPG tho, my commute is long cruising sections at 60MPH, and my MPG readout didn't change much but I know it's underreporting because I never recalibrated the speedo. I'd figure I gained 5-10% MPG cruising at 60mph, and lost a bit at lower speeds. This is in a stick, I'd figure the auto trans would probably see bigger gains.

Edit: Think of it this way, you've basically regeared to a taller gear like a 3.73 by going taller on the tires. "Rubber overdrive"

So saw an older guy with a really nice tacoma, lifted 3 inches with 265 70 17, or something. I told him that I could run a 33 on stock tires, on stock suspension, he laughed in my face and told me to run my finger between the tire and the uca, it was damn near touching. But no matter how much I explained the 255 85 16s he wouldnt buy it. Cant wait til I need new tires.
