Sorry for the back and forth.

As far as a specific Toto commercial or A/S, if you can, can you please link a specific model?

    Much appreciated!

Just that one, checked all my GFCIs and none are tripped. I'll grab pics tonight when I get home.

I've run the three prong tester on all my gfcis. This is the only one that doesn't work. The only other outlet on the house that doesn't have power is one outside on the patio. which is a different area entirely. If its run to this outlet there are more problems than just this.

Yes that is where you will get thermal bridging , but I see no soffit baffles , you should be using those too

Thanks. So my attic only has 16 bays with soffit vents, all other bays are sealed, in other words boxed eves. My understanding is that baffles are only needed where vents are. Yes?

Is the soffit not interconnected outside ? ie the whole area gets fresh air or is it sloped soffit and no interconnection between the bays ?

if you’re bound and determined to run just the r30 then putting strips of fiberglass on the rafters is a good idea :)
Save your machete and cut the rips with a utility knife.....compressing the batt with a 2x4 helps a lot when cutting

If I were gonna go that route though I would cut 6” rips of 2” extruded polystyrene foamboard and glue them to the rafters. Prolly easier and cheaper to just do the double batt technique though lol

I’ve been eyeing the Milwaukee version of this knife at the local builders store. Might have to give it a try, anything that could speed up installation of the nasty stuff would be very welcome :)

We’re just starting to get the rock wool batts around here. Seems like an awesome product but I think it’s like 4x the price of fiberglass lol

I'm gonna say sloped soffit and no interconnection between the bays because rafter tails separate them and boxed in by fascia board

    (4) soffit vents
    [IMG]

    (2) soffit vents
    [IMG]

Looking down into one of the boxed eves that had a vent, where a mother f***ing bird had made a nest because broken hardware cloth!!! FML I extracted it with my batt tool and it's all since been repaired.

Thanks for the ideas. I'll figure out something. :)

We're using it in 2" x 4' x 8' sheets for exterior insulation . Its hydrophobic , won't harbour insects or rodents and is R8

In that case you are correct , you would only need to use them in the bays that are vented .

Ive had specific GFCI's just go out. They wouldnt click back on. Id try replacing the specific GFCI. Is the Patio outlet a GFCI? Should be if its exposed to the elements. It maybe wired to another outside outlet or an outlet in the garage if you have one. Most of the houses Ive been in is 15A line for the outside. Then 20A or 30A inside the garage. Again sometimes they just go bad and nothing else is affected which leads you to believe theres a problem.
