there is indeed a heavy truck file coming soon for 04B13 MT trucks. Mat said this week. so, soon. DL via FM upon release if you have that ECU base.

So far I'd say the tune is a waste of time and money. 17', I've always driven with ect on, 91 octane.
Finally loaded 91 base tune; went for a 30 min drive; what a waste.
I reset one of the trip meters, I'll drive for a couple days and report back if it gets any better, so far it only maybe has any affect at high rpms, which our trucks are rarely at anyway.
Anyone thinking about it I'd save your money. Just leaving your ect button on has much more of an effect and doesn't cost anything.

Did you try performance or GearLock? FOB if manual? The base tune is for mpg not response or power..

Shell, whatever my friend, you don't know me at all.
Mat, no, I didn't try 91 performance because theres already too many bad reviews of 91 performance on the main thread.
I'd like to see an independent agency test a 3rd gen 0-60 and 1/4 mile stock and tuned.
If I see that I'll believe it worked on that truck, until then it's a waste of time and money.

Ok.. You know that the people who post actively is less than 1 percent of the people who have the tune?

The only negative thing some people say is its too touchy, but many others say they like the tip in. But you didn't even try it.. Clearly if you drive in ECT mode all day you're looking for more performance and the base tune is not that.

We already had 2 different 3rd party companies review our dyno results, independently.

some ones in a bad mood today ...the base tune is exactly that ...it's all about a mellow ride and mpg's. I'm on 91 performance and very happy .If you haven't tried it you really can't say much and are really missing out .

Glad to hear it :). I hope to have the MT patch done soon, but when it comes to throttle control I try to be very delicate and do many bug tests before even testing. Has to be right the very first time.

I have zero complaints running the 91oct., gearlock file. Everything has been as advertised. Truck rips to 70mph in 2nd gear, can hold gears in etc mode, better shifting. Big improvement over stock files, imho.

Just installed the 1.05 base 87 tune in my '19 SR auto 4x4. I can definitely tell a difference in shifting. I wouldn't say night and day difference, but it's resolved some if not most of my complaints on how this truck is designed from the factory. Previously it felt like my truck was dying if I rolled up to a stop sign and was sluggish when accelerating again from a stop or slow roll. Haven't felt the need for the performance tune yet. I've ran some sort of tune on the last 3 vehicles I've owned and do see the benefit in them.

Every dyno sheet we have posted is 3rd party, and when the latest comes out with their review I'll post it.

I feel like I'm never gonna get caught up with probably 3000 pages of forum traffic on this subject alone. I need a 101 thread, listing acronyms, ECU calibration explanations, laptop software differences (I'm seeing two), file options, and stuff I'm probably not even aware of yet.

2019 OF AT, tows a 3k lbs RV, HATE the lack of low end torque, hate the numb pedal, hate the shift hunting on the smallest grades. Love the idea of gear lock, saw the latest dyno pull with the HUGE torque jump below 3k. I have a 2000 tundra 4.7 v8 with 150k miles that I like driving MORE than my new tacoma. Did you know these 2 trucks are only 200 lbs different in weight?

What does the new to this tune guy need to know before pulling the trigger on Matt's miracle fix?

Sorry for the caps, I'm a little frustrated right now. :) Thanks in advance. Bryon

You'll need a windows 10 laptop with internet, even where you hook up the laptop to your truck. I purchased the OV tune package (the most expensive one) that comes with the OBD2 adapter. HOWEVER, when you follow the instructions follow the WITHOUT DONGLE one. I thought what they sent me was the dongle, but apparently that odb2 adapter is called odb2 adapter. NO DONGLE! The only software license is when you register your OV tune and they send you a registry file. Go to the ovtuned website and watch the video, follow the instructions, etc. It's pretty easy unless you think you have the dongle. That's all you need to know really.

Mat, when are us 04B03 owners going to get the performance and gear hold tunes? I am not really about the mpg's.
