I plasti dipped my grill too. Looks a lot better than chrome. I need my rear bumper chrome gone but am looking for the bumper covers I heard about. I don't know where to find them?

I bought the rear bumper covers as well. It wasn't too difficult, however, my rear bumper step isn't perfect any longer, but only I notice it.

I took it a step further too. Also, derped the center emblem, then painted over that with color match paint (in case I didn't like the look of it).

About the only thing I have done that has been cosmetic is to spray my grill. Look like a base truck? Nope, not me. I got the OffRoad first for it's capabilities and second because it looks so damn good, especially without the silly hood scoop. Don't care what others do to theirs...

So I took the easy way out and bought an OEM grill but still felt the need to spray something so I turned a $10 Walmart Contigo coffee container into a $40 Yeti... :D:thumbsup::bananadance:

The looks awesome! I plan to do the same with the “Toyota” on the new grill when it comes in. The camo paint I used on the coffee mug is a very close match for the quicksand on our trucks.

If Toyota actually allowed me to order a truck with the spec I wanted, I would have never gone for the OEM TRD OR grille, I would have opted for something closer to my personal taste. So it's not really about making trucks "look alike" or wasting upgrade money or anything like that.

If the truck came exactly as you like it, lucky you. For me, it came with a few aesthetic (and functional, but that's for a different discussion) shortcomings that I'm lucky enough to have the means and basic tooling skills to quickly fix... so I did just that.

Having said all that, plastidipping is definitely for kids. :)

I did the main grill in Black Plastidip and the outer trim ring with Black & then dusted it with several coats of Plastidip Metalizer (copper) until it was Bronze.
I also Bronzed the chrome emblems around the truck, which included the "Tacoma" on each door & the "V6" on the rear. 20180616_143407.jpg
Later I matched the interior Grey dash trim to the Bronze, but it'll require a respray this weekend, as my Off-roads tablet for maps rubbed some off.

Nice touch with the bronze. The center emblem on your grille would look fantastic in bronze too! (Imho of course)

Yes because the OEM chrome looks like shit.

Not trying to look like everyone else because every Tacoma that comes off the line has a shitty chrome grill.... so therefore this is something a little different.

Mine has held up through everything only because I am too cheap at this point to buy a knockoff PRO grill. Too many non cosmetic mods to spend money on.

I dipped my grille at first, about 2 cans worth, then I got a BAMF grille, always wanted one, wasn't cheap, but... took me some time to finally get it. Don't think we are trying to copy each others truck, actually a stupid comment. We all have our own ideas.
I'm 56 and love playing around with the truck and the mods, like a hobby. I don't drink or smoke, so every couple months I throw some cash into my truck, shit, I could save all my money and have them throw it in my casket when time comes:)

I did just the recessed parts of the grill with about 7 coats. Has been 40+ months now. Holding up very well.

Cool highlights! Haven't seen anything quite like that before .

I actually wasn't sure about color matching the central emblem on mine because I thought the chrome contrasted and also matched the headlights. Honestly I could take it or leave it, but the wife likes it so I guess it stays .

The pro grille is cool for sure - here's one more photo if you decide to change it up. Had the OR grille bezel wrapped in matte black when my windows were being tinted:

I think you’re confused. Painting the grill bezel black is not making it look like an SR. The SR does come with a black bezel, but a completely different grill. I did it because I think it makes the front of my truck much nicer. I couldn’t care less what others do to their trucks.
