    The Hunter... thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. So in theory all this will get me will be a convenient hold in place while I wrench down the nuts from above. In my estimation (as I was attempting it yesterday) I figured even if they didn't hold forever it would be no worse than what Toyota provides, so I figured it wouldn't be a safety risk. The studs that come with the upper spring seat are not welded in their either, just holding by friction in their holes. The fact that the used spring seats I got had the studs able to pop out with a halfhearted hammer blow just sealed my thinking this wasn't a big safety issue. I'm going to be putting some thread locker on the bolts before I do the final installation and wrench them slightly more than the FSM says since I know the hardware is grade 8 and strong.
