Gotcha. I overlooked the part where you said you had Fusion. I'll go back to sleep now.

I believe there are no send units for oil pressure or oil temperature. It’s just a good/bad switch for pressure.

I think the truck has a low pressure switch but not a pressure sender. It sure would be great to be able to monitor oil pressure but unless you add your own sender/gauge I don't think you can.

It’s a feature sadly missing on most modern cars. I had a 1972 Celica and it had a gauge that showed +/- battery draw (charging or discharging) and analogue oil pressure. It was cool to watch the oil pressure build before you pulled away, and also watch it decrease on hot days when the oil thinned out. The current gauge would also show you if your alternator was working. It would be so very easy for Toyota to give us this info on our newer Tacomas, at least on the digital dash. I wish they did.

The saddest thing is a rented a Dodge Challenger on a business trip and it had all of these read-outs and a whole lot more. It was amazing all the things that Dodge allowed you to monitor.

72 Celica ST.....my first car, and my first Toyota. Brings back the memories just looking at this dash. Too bad it got cubed after to body rotted off it.

Yeah, fusion is nice and all, but I don’t really need to monitor most of the data. Really do miss analog gauges. Digital is fine but there’s a certain quality about a sweet analog readout.

Bummer about the Celica. Any other pics?

I’ll dig some up maybe. I lifted that picture off the net on a site selling mint old Toyotas. Apparently you need to spend $25k for a rust-free 70s celica. I bought mine for $1400 in 1989!

The sad thing was the 18RC motor and 4-speed gear box were bulletproof and drove great, but when the shock towers rusted out and the front wheels started collapsing into the engine compartment, I needed to scrap it for $150. It was too dangerous to sell to anyone with a clear conscious.

I’m going to. I wonder if there are any retro Toyota gauges I could make look cool on the pillar.

Where would the added sensor go?

I’ve never seen one of those before , but that seems like the sort of thing you would need to run an independant oil pressure gauge without adding another threaded bung to your block.

    Cool idea.

That would work great. I did it on an old VW and what I did is install a T adaptor into the block where the oil temp sensor was located, plugged that into one side of the T and an Audi oil pressure sender into the other side.
