Sorry fellas-no hi lift points incorporated in these bumpers. Got to do it the old fashioned way..under the lca's or rear axle diff.

All my rigs are purpose built. From crawling to camping. I also enjoy a nice stock truck for what that’s worth. Toyota’s are the jam!

I am not a fan of the styling of them either, I can appreciate how stout they are. It actually looks the same since the 80s. This one has all the ARB stuff: Bumper, Sliders, Safari Bars.

It’s the generic design, looks like it was made for a Land Rover, and then adapted via frame mounts to every other truck.. oh wait, that is what happened.

@TheUglyOne Forgive the off-road greenie question, but couldn’t you use the recovery points by adding some soft shackles?

Indeed, however your trying to eliminate any points of failure or mainly movement.
The biggest danger with a hi-lift is the weight shifting. Which is why instructors say to choose a fixed point on your rig.

I have not used the one Ugly linked. I have used this one to lift my Truggy with big tires, it helped if you had a spare tire/rim you could then slide under neath your axle or skid to keep the truck off the ground while working.

Ive been using a jak jaw on occasion for a few years. The Demello sliders can be used as a jack point-plenty of beef there.
You know JM, I've thought the same thing with the soft shackles too. I get scared half the time because my suspension travel is too long, front and rear-so basically gone back to my bottle jack most of the time.

I suppose, but you want something that is sturdy. If you put a "soft shackle" to say the front shackle mount, the truck could sway from weight movement or something like that. The high lift bumper ass. is similar but depending on the terrain it could be more sturdy.

Yeah my question was more directed in the instance that the sliders weren't an option. Like up shit creek

Got the truck aligned after installing the 5100/885 combo with my 255/80/17’s at Greer Automotive in Woodstock. Good dudes, good work and best deal by a Toyota-knowledgable shop I could find in Atlanta region. I was in and out in under an hour and they got the caster to 2.3 with factory UCA’s.

I don't have any experience with that tire size, but that is the most "comfortably" lift combo that I've experienced. In all honesty, it pisses me off how much more I spent to have a stiff AF suspension.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised with ride quality. Several trucks ago, I lifted via 5100/stock offroad springs and it was a pogo stick.

The RXT springs in the back are just as cush in comparison to the stock leafs.

I have the Toytec Boss w/ HD springs up front. I keep telling myself I just need to add a winch and I will like the ride more. I was on the fence between the regular and HD springs. After talking to them and some others who have the BOSS suspension, I decided to go HD based on the ARB bumper, front skids, and possibility of future winch.

The problem with that is I don't want a crap winch. I read good things about the Badlands, but it is still the Harbor Freight option. Superwinch seems to get mixed reviews. Same with Smittybuilt. If I went with a lesser known winch, Engo is the route I would likely take. ....but none of those are Warn.

Before the BOSS, I had the Ironman 4x4 2" that rode similar to no lift at all. The ARB was too heavy for it to handle though, so I had crazy rake and it became stiff as well since the springs were already compressed.

I have not experienced King or Icon, but you probably couldn't pay me (ok, someone paying me is about the only way) to put Icon on my truck.

What is wrong with Icon? I love mine! So much better that the stock ride.

Any idea on the spring weight?

I'm running 700# eibachs on 6112's, skids, sliders, sos slimline, warn winch. Ride is very plush, set at 3/4 on the 6112. Are they cranked to the max and no room for downtravel?

Not all springs and shocks are created equal. Some are progressive, some are digressive, and then there is linear. With that, spring rate isn't always an apples to apples comparison just as one shock to another isn't an apples to apples comparison.

To muddy the water even more, ride comfort is ridiculously subjective. Your opinion of a soft Cadillac ride might be what I would consider a firm Rally car ride. Not to mention preferences. Some folks like the firm ride, so they'll say suspension 'X' rides amazing while others feel its like driving a covered wagon.

The list goes on and on.
