It was actually @CowboyTaco that said he wouldn't go Icon. I personally have no experience with them.

I have read of folks having some quality issues with Icon in the past. But I'm sure every company has had some issues if you look for them.

Icon shocks being built with digressive valving is the main factor for me not going with them on my rig. But again, thats just my opinion for my desired uses/ride preferences both on and off road.

I will say-like the Bilsteins (w/ a digressive damping curve), I enjoy the ICON ride on my FJ. I never worry about the washboards being too rough usually aired down to 15 psi and never hit big jumps with it. so it rides well offroad and handles like a Caddy on the pavement. I know my Taco w/Kings didn't handle as well on road until I put the triples up front..so I have a nice blend of linear through the main shock and digressive damping through the triples..to balance the system out. Not trying to play politician but definitely nothing wrong with either set up though through my experience in running both types on my 2nd Gen

Not to get too far off into the rabbit hole, but where does Radflo typically fall on the progressive/digressive/linear chart?

Also any updates with selling stuff from your local boys ADS? If my research is accurate, they offer a weird blend of progressive/digressive valving.

I still haven't been able to secure a deal with ADS yet. I appreciate the fact they are local and want to support local too-and they are specialized in their builds. Radflo will build the shock to any spec you desire. If you want a linear graph build or digressive/progressive curve that's blended just present the same. If you want a different flutter stack, more bleed at lower wheel/piston velocity movement they'll do it. If you want a different rebound curve that's another thing they can play with too. Its all about where the holes open up at, the friction involved and piston velocity. The general public with trails they use their rigs on can usually get away with compression adjusters because the valving usually takes in to account the weight, speed, and expected terrain 5%-10% of the time you are offroad..so they make it important to set these up for good on road manners....people can get crazy with springs rates and tilt the balance.

King will customize your build too...Just need to pay a customization per shock fee. Usually a $100 per shock.

I half expected your answer to be along those lines; super technical and way over my head, lol. I was pretty sure all the Radflo stuff was built to order. So they essentially don't really fit into the stereotypical mold of being predominantly digressive/progressive like some of big box names tend to be; Fox, Bilstein, Icon, King, etc.

Yet another example of why I'll be calling you when its time to place my order. I need/want someone with your level of knowledge to help identify what platform best meets my needs and uses for my rig/build.

haha-Well JM, the off the shelf so to speak Radflos set up for Tacos are going to like Fox/Kings...linear rate.
I really consider my top three performance brands as King/Icon and Radflo. I am less than impressed with the customer service from other big name companies of late as well.

Believe me, I would have gone with a Carli Suspension setup if they made one for Toyota's.

Bahaha. I’m gonna need that broken down into speed bump analogies. Like are we talking Publix shopping center speed bumps or those big ass table top speed bumps at the YMCA?

Who would have thought that saying I wouldn't go with Icon would spark so much debate!

I have a friend back in TX that had to get his rebuilt the first time after 10k miles. Instead of rebuilding them a second time, he sold them and went with the Toytec Boss.

Also, this: Then, even the Lifestyle Overland crew had an issue with the mounts on top of their 4Runner shocks.

It's my understanding that Icon was the bomb.com back in it's hayday. Then they sold out to someone who wanted to make it more profitable and started cutting corners. This eventually lead to many people experiencing issues.

It's one thing if you just read about a bunch of people on the internet bashing their setup. We all know that people are more likely to post complaints on an internet forum than they are to say "everything is working as it should." But it's an entirely different thing for someone you consider a good friend to experience the quality issues. He's actually the one that pointed me to the forums to show all the bad info on them. When I found out he was taking them off, I asked how much he would sell them to me for. His answer: They aren't for sale to you. This, of course, lead to questions.

I believe they are the 700# ones. It was the heavier of the two when I purchased, but it looks like there are 3 options now. You also have more weight up front, I'm assuming. No, they are not cranked to the max. Aren't 6112's a 2.5" body shock?

    Indeed it is!
