Stay out of trouble and don't have warrants and then you have nothing to worry about. If someone is a shitty citizen and has warrants, then they deserve to be randomly checked. If I'm WALKING down a street and a police officer asks for my ID, I have no reason to question it or hide who I am. I'll hand the ID over, they run my info, and since i'm a nice citizen, I'm sent on my way. "in hopes they can generate more revenue" you mean by finally arresting people that deserve to be arrested? They're not getting revenue out of me if I'm not doing anything wrong. They're not all out to get revenue. Yeah some might be but by saying they're all out for revenue is just generalizing.

This thread got way off topic...

OP, all in all, Assuming you don't have added tint to your front windows, then you should fight the ticket in court. If you have added tint to your front windows, then pay the ticket and chalk it up as part of the expense and risk of having tinted windows.

The problem is they have no right to that information. Just because "I have nothing to hide" doesn't mean who I am or "where ya headed?" or "where you coming from" or "what you doing out this late?" is ANY of their business. I'm out this late because I'm 44 fuckin years old and I want to be out..I'm headed that way, and I came from that way, and beyond that it's none of their business.

Many states have exemptions for equipment violations by out of state vehicles. @awmannme75 should look into the Georgia rules. It also shouldn't hurt to try fighting via mail, possibly after consulting a lawyer in GA.

If the vehicle came that way then you are off the hook. You didn't choose to apply the tint.

It is the end of the month and less-honest cops are getting their tickets up.

But not of the tint is factory. My uncle has had 10+ tickets dismissed without going to court because his truck, a tundra, came with the tint from the factory. A judge told him that the county's cannot require a person to remove it, because this would be discriminatory against people who cannot afford it who also did not request or pay for it to be put on.

You're delusional if you think a patrol officer cares about revenue from tickets. Literally zero effect on them or their job.

The patrol officer probably doesn't care. However, the policies laid forth by those overseeing them and their department might. Once that revenue stream is established as part of their economic model it's not going away easily.

We don't know the degree this particular municipality uses law enforcement to generate profits or if they do at all. I think to say they don't at all or that it doesn't happen ever is something else...not that you said that...know what I mean?

Every job, public and private, depends on revenue. Money runs out, the powers that be start looking for ways to cut costs. You think the mayor/governor/whoever is going to cut their own pay in order to keep cops on the payroll?

Toyota doesn’t tint from Factory they never have. What you get from Factory is an option for privacy glass on the rears. The dealership or port would do it before sale as an add on. My 2016 Tacoma has those same etchings and all that is saying is that is Factory glass. I honestly hope you get out of the tint ticket. Small town PD’s get away with this crap all to often.

I found this on my window sticker - distributor installed. 3M window tint. Does that mean I’m ok in those 4 states?

Nothing constructive to add here. Just wanted everyone to know I had 15% tint on my 2nd gen in Hawaii when I bought it that was put on in California. It was illegal in California and illegal in Hawaii.

.... Still had to remove it to pass safety check and reconstruction permit. And on life goes...
