The only downside to Comfortbatt in my experience is it doesn't have a grain like a fibreglass batt so you can't split it around wires or pipes but since I got the Hultafors insulation knives it's a bit easier to cut it to split around wires etc

Going after batts single handed would be foolish. Packin' a Good Blade gives You an Advantage.

Not sure what you mean , you can easily split a fibreglass batt by hand to go around wires or pipes , in fact its harder to use a knife , thats how all the pros I've ever hired do it too

I mean splitting it in thickness , not width

what do y'all think of these tile choices for the bathroom? girlfriend is second guessing the flooring and saying it's too dark but I like it a lot.

wood look for floor, pebble for shower floor, subway tile for shower walls.

I really do too, but you know women. She's afraid it's too dark because of Lowe's images they have that go with the tile and this is how it looks:

    55653314_830168850684076_686809360187680_74c51fea06ac396071def47c23c5cb67ec509285.jpg

I tried to tell her that's a bad photo and not how it looked in store. The previous photo is my picture on the store floor.

I like it a lot, that my simple, natural aesthetic.
And if she isn't wearing a ring and/or paying for the work or contributing to the mortgage, I think your opinion wins. Easier to change girlfriends than bathrooms.

hahaha you're quite right on all of that and exactly what I told her. she said she would pay for the alternate flooring choice. I'm paying the contractors obviously, but they gave us a 1$/sqft for bathroom floor allowance (not much I know, but that tile is $0.99/sqft so in budget and doesn't cost me any extra)

right?! it looks awful there. nothing like what my in store photo looks like.

Know that all light colored grout ends up darkening over time. Personally I'm a fan of darker floors and grout.

Good point. Darker gray grout should work.

I think it looks good. Looks not to far off from what I went with in my dinning room and bedrooms. I also didn't want a dark floor as my furniture is on the dark side. Got mine at Lowes.
