    @jross20

    Continuing that Ciak vs Georgia ruling:

    "Id. at 29, 597 S.E.2d 392.   The law was subsequently rewritten and now provides: Except as provided in this Code section, it shall be unlawful for any person to operate a motor vehicle in this state:  (1) Which has material and glazing applied or affixed to the front windshield, which material and glazing when so applied or affixed reduce light transmission through the windshield;  or (2) Which has material and glazing applied or affixed to the rear windshield or the side or door windows, which material and glazing when so applied or affixed reduce light transmission through the windshield or window to less than 32 percent, plus or minus 3 percent, or increase light reflectance to more than 20 percent. OCGA § 40-8-73.1(b)."

    The way that law was re-written, well, I'm no lawyer but in my interpretation...it basically it allows Georgia LEO to cite any vehicle on the roads of Georgia where LEO deems the tint is too dark. Nowhere in there, does it state that this only applies to vehicles registered to/within the state of Georgia. The OP was driving in that state and got cited for her [Alabama-legal] tinted front windows.

    I wonder how many folks in this thread defending the letter of the law have never driven over the speed limit.

    :rofl:

    If you're referring to me, I'm not defending the letter of the law. This thread has digressed to the point of opinions and conjecture being argued about, like monkeys throwing shit at the zoo. I'd prefer to participate in this logically, and informed. Otherwise, we're just adding fuel to the dumpster fire that this thread is evolving into.

    If we want to discuss "spirit" vs "letter" of the law; let's take that to a whole new thread. Because that could be damn fun, what with all the badges I see on people's profiles in this forum!

    FWIW - I speed all the time, but I don't go blaming anybody else for if I get popped. Just because I drive a vehicle capable of exceeding the speed limit, doesn't put the vehicle manufacturer as liable because my foot's made of lead.

    Fellow Alabama resident here. I was just looking at getting my little Taco tinted and thus googled to find my options. It appears that Alabama does have it's own tint laws and I believe your vehicle might be in violation of them:
    1. https://www.tinting-laws.com/alabama/
    2. http://www.tintcenter.com/laws/AL/
    3. https://tintlaws.com/alabama-window-tint-law.php
    (Spoiler: front side windows must allow 32% of light in)

    I remember having friends who would loiter in random parking lots, as small town kids do, and the local PD started writing tickets for tint law violations to deter them.
