K&N vs TRD air intake

Which one would you prefer. K&N or TRD air intake

Dunno anything about the trd intake but I put a K&N in my PreRunner around a month ago and I love it

 

I know it's much cheaper. which one do you have 63 or 77. I heard that there's no difference.

The truck comes from the factory with a "cold air intake"...putting anything else on is just for sound and bling, performance gains will be minimal if at all.

With that said, I have had a TRD intake on my truck and it sounded great. But if I had it to do all over again, I wouldn't have wasted the $300!!

the TRD and Afe stage 2 are the ONLY cold air intakes equivalent or superior to the stock cold air intake... everything else is worse (ie warm air intakes)

 

Oh and does either even help the MPG

 

On the contrary, there is much more to intake design then cold air vs warm air.

An intake alone will have marginal gains that part is correct, BUT when paired with an exhaust, or used in a system that requires moving tons of air. An aftermarket intake will be far superior.

That inlet comes with a cover from the factory. You can have it open or closed. Closed it functions just the same as the TRD, open will allow more air to be available when needed... say at 10lbs of boost at the track.

 

closed element is best.... k&n gets heat soaked.

You my friend are not aware of re-calibration..... The difference it makes is actually quite big if done correctly.... if you are sucking in all that extra air.... it has to get out quick too..... I installed my TRD intake and well it made quite a big difference.... I hate when people say that they don't gain anything off of these because it has been DYNO proven to show results.... If installed correctly....

The intake is well worth the money in my opinion... all my friends notice the difference it made... especially my buddy in his s2k....... we ran them before and then about 2 weeks later after the install ran em again.... what do you know... I won the second time.....

 

not to thread jack but is it possible to buy a trd exhaust n put a aero turbine on it???

 

n have a trd cai on top of that???

 

recal is letting the ecu relearn everything.... unplugging the battery is a good start but that doesn't give it the recal.... it literally can take up to a month depending on how often you drive the truck for it to learn itself... this is normal driving not racing and all that stuff.... if you don't give it time then it won't learn it's new airflow....

 

I think the trd intake is so overpriced..just went with the k&n 67 series. Absolutely love it.

 

False. I have had the K&N since I bought the truck. 155,000 miles and no problems with it or the filter.

Or the URD True CAI...but the gains just aren't sufficient enough for me to wanna spend 300+ dollars!
