@Deathbysnusnu just did a front winch that way, and I was curious as to what he used but too lazy to sign in at the time and ask. I got the impression from the picture though that lining up with existing holes wasn't a concern (or rather a custom metal piece solves it, since I assume he fabbed the whole thing).

 

Live and learn! Pretty sure you were in rwd just like i was on the switchbacks, but you had a little more speed which carried you further down. And as usual, it looks flat and it sure wasn't.

So I did try a bit of the Kokopelli. When I turned off after you aired up, thats where it hits 128 again. I followed that for about 3 miles (nice graded). About 2 miles in, there was a creek crossing that was washed out. Thankfully it was somewhat solid although it was off camber and steep but I made it. Had it been much wetter, it could've been a mess. Then hit a point where you are on a shelf road that doesn't look like it had been traveled in a while. Just from my seat I could see it looked a little washed out and some big rocks on it. I didn't feel like trying that alone since I was trying to get home on Tuesday evening.

I jumped off then followed the side highway that runs south of I70 and cut back to the Kokopelli somewhere between Agate and Westwater. It jumped on a paved road before getting back on dirt. At that point it was mostly slow and rocky so I wasn't thrilled. Followed it for a while and took my next chance to exit and popped out by the Westwater Airport just west of the CO border.

So Kokopelli seems fine other than Rose Garden Hill. But, it held a bit of water even when I was on it. So if there has been a bit of rain or snow recently, expect to make a mess. TOTW you'll definitely want a spot, and may have to stack rocks where the taller ledges have been rutted out. But as long as you do the right side of the lolipop as an out and back, theres only one or two spots where you'd have to worry about that. Run the full lolipop and from what i've been told... you'll do it a lot more.

 

Yeah will do. Trying to play it out so my dad can tag along on this one. May will probably be a nogo for me since I'm going on a 2 week road trip/camping trip

But to answer your question, no I have not found a solution. I just take my license plate off when I tow my trailer. I never found a product that was specifically made to cover a hitch with a license plate using existing holes on a spring loaded hinge.

My last truck had a CBI bumper and they just tack welded a piano hinge on. It was steel and the inside of the hinge rusted and it totally siezed up. My plan is to just bolt an aluminum hinge on and then put the license plate on that. It won't be during loaded, but it will be convenient.

 

Because nothing says I’m impressed and promotes friendly, helpful and worthwhile conversation like being a total dick right out of the gate.

It's the next two weekends (not this weekend)

I bought a ticket months ago and I'll be out of town. I can transfer it through eventbrite for $2.50 to anyone else, or they said you basically just need the qr code to get in. It originally cost $60 for the ticket so I'd rather someone get to use it vs being completely wasted.

 

Dunno about harder CO trails. But I definitely want to do Moab rim. I'm not lifted as much as most guys and don't have HC front/rear but have armor. Need to pick up a rear dif skid though

 

If anyone does end up wanting to join, I'll be heading out Thursday night and getting to camp in Tombstone Butte late late. Pretty sure the plan is to run to Crystal Geyser on Friday, White Wash Sand Dunes Saturday then head to Sego Canyon/Book Cliffs. More of an overland type deal than real rock crawling, but I expect there will be plenty of fun obstacles along the way.
