I put mud flaps on my truck the other day and some of the bolts don't tighten completely. They keep turning and never fully tighten down. I guess the plastic grommet is stripped. Does anyone know of a way to correct this? I was thinking maybe putting some teflon tape around the screw. Or will I need to replace the plastic grommets? If so is there a best way to remove the old grommets? Thank you.

Almost sounds like your screws are too small?

Many of mine have stripped as well, even though I’ve been super careful taking them off and on before wheeling trips. They just don’t last more than one use.

As a short term solution, I smeared some 5-minute epoxy in the damages threads, let it dry, and the screws went in no problem. Long term, I’d like to buy some new inserts. If anyone has the product number, I’d also be interested.

DSC01797.jpg Just get some screw clips from lowes or wherever. They slide around the black plastic part. They will hold tight, just don't dog'em!
