Good evening! I'm new to this board so I do have a few questions. I'm looking to purchase a Tacoma some time soon within the next few weeks to months. I have priced out a 2019 White Taco Limited w/ Black interior for 39,500 MSPR was 43,300. I've also priced out White Sport with Premium accesories package, complete with sunroof and JBL sound system, MSRP: 43,240, with discounts and what not, dealer is down to 39,300.

In your opinion which is better buy and why? I currently have a 2009 Tacoma SR (124,100 Miles), no frills in it. doesn't even have intermittent wipers or curse control. I'm being offered approx 12K in trade in value.

So I would be using the trade in as a down payment.

Looking forward to what you all have to say.

    Thanks,

    Sean

Save yourself some money. Sell your 2009 privately and negotiate on price alone. Then you can really see what they AREN'T paying you for your trade-in. If you want to find out what your 2009 is really worth then take it to a few dealers and tell them you are just looking to sell it to them without buying another vehicle and see what they offer. Yours is a relatively low mileage truck that could easily and quickly sell on the private market.

Sorry, I am of no help with the purchase decision on which 2019 to buy but do sell your trade out right and just negotiate on price. Or, if you really want to find out how little they are giving you for your 2009, tell them you are selling it privately, negotiate a price on your new 2019, then tell them maybe you want to trade in the 2009 and let them tell you what they would give you.

A Sport with the premium package is going to be similar to the Limited in many ways. The biggest differences will be the suspension and the chrome trim. You do get a scoop on the Sport and if you dont like that you can swap hoods and make some cash. Test drive both back to back on the same route and go from there.

I was looking to buy the sport , test drove the Sport and OR. Ended up with the OR ... just like the way it rode better.

And this is why test drives are very important. I test drove the OR, Sr5, and Sport and I liked the way the Sport drove and handled better.

Welcome. Take time to test drive both to see which is best for you. Think about bed length, short or long. The limited does not come in a long bed or with a hood scoop.

I was looking at a used Limited which was great, but I brought home a new Sport, because, well.... new, I like the color, but to me they rode and drove the same, so in my opinion just comes down to what you want, I like the scoop, so that along with a few other cosmetic details sold me.

I really like the options in my sport with the sunroof and such, buy the one that feels better. Minor thing I don’t like is those 18” rims on the limited, personal preference there I don’t care for that much rim on a truck personally.

What color is the sport interior? I would never buy black interior or exterior, living in Florida

From the OPs description the interiors sound the same.

From my perspective, a Sport is just that... a truck intended to be used for sport. Camping, fishing, skiing, etc. all which demand a truck to be rugged and handle a bit of off roading. A limited is more of a street truck with it's 18" wheels and soft suspension, although it can handle most of the tasks I mentioned for the Sport if it's equipped properly. The Limited will have a lot of chrome, where as the Sport has just a little chrome. Depends on what you like.

I thought the Sport and Limited had the same suspension.

SR, SR5, & Limited have the same suspension.
    Sport is stiffer.
    OR is softer.

    A few.
I think it comes down to whether u like the hoodscoop or not. Its easy to change wheels or change the grille but alot more expensive and involved if u want to switch hoods.
