picked up a 17 tacoma 3.5 auto 4x4 and took it into dealer to have the shifting update done. and it shifts great in lower gears but if u step it down on the highway or going up a hill and get over the hill it wants to hang in that 4th gear for a long time before it will shift.. anyone ever had any issues with this before in there trucks? thanks pretty new to Tacoma world!

Let me know what the dealer says. I run into this all the time but I can play around with how much pressure i apply to the gas to get it to shift. I.E. pressing hard, soft, hard, soft (shift).

    Not ideal..

Switch it over to s mode and give it all 6 gears available and it will up shift a little better. The od gears are too high to be fully functioning with the lack of low end torque

Ya I’m coming from having 6 Dodge diesels, and I’m not used to the gear drop lol but it doesn’t want a stay in that6 gear much on cruise or slightest hill it’s back in 5 th.. but didn’t know if the hold in 4th gear for a while was normal in these trucks or not..

Mine is an auto and I have it.

So much more response and power.
If you run the 91 or 93 octane tune it will hold gears so much better uphill with the hp and torque gains. Best mod ever

putting larger diameter tires and or heavier tires will not help matters either, sorry to say.
