    None yet...looking at options
I tapped all around the door handle and put about 6-8 coats of black and two of glossifier. Hit it with a hair dryer after each coat. Once completely dry about two hours, just peeled slowly around edges and wiped off overspray inside handle. Has lasted about a year now with no issues and still looks great.

So, did anyone actually try to remove the chrome pieces from the handles altogether? It was mentioned that they are just trim pieces held on by the 3M double sided tape. I would imagine that the handle is painted before the trim pieces are installed.

I'm thinking that it may be possible to simply remove the chrome trim pieces and run with that. Sure, the handles will have the indention on where the trim sits, but it will be color matched. Thoughts??

I’m I’m the same boat as you. I want to remove chrome handles as well but there are not many options.

All the part numbers indicate that the matte black handles are only non-smart handles. I couldn’t locate a smart handle in matte black.

I also don’t believe the plastidip will work in the capacitive handles, although I may end up trying it for fun. Just peel it off when I find out it doesn’t work. :)

Not sure yet. I’ve used rustoleum leak seal on the mirror covers and fog surrounds. I may try that first. Not sure when I’ll have time to try though. I’ll post when I have some results.

The chrome trim appears to be held on with more than just tape:

I've got a can of Plastidip here at the house and was thinking about doing the door handle inserts this weekend when I do my chrome emblem on the grille. We'll see. I'm also switching out the chrome grille surround for a matte black one. Slowly eliminating the chrome. :transformer:

You would assume by now Toyota or someone would produce matte black door handles. I just like the contrast. I looked into the door handle covers from China and they just look to generic and cheap.

I advise against plasti dipping door handles...its a frequently used part of your vehicle, and rings/jewelry and just frequent use, especially females who stack rings are going to be chippin' away at them. Just my opinion...gett'em painted with the same quality an auto body shop would once and be done with it. It won't cost too much and will save you the hassle of maintenance (removing the handle to touch up/respray).

    I hear ya but...............

    ................Too Late.

I did it yesterday and it turned out OK for my first plastidip experience. I had a couple of slip ups peeling everything but all in all it looks pretty good. I'll leave it on for now mainly to see how it's going to hold up. Here are a few pictures of the process.

I’m gonna install and have my auto body shop paint them matte black. I haven’t removed the rear handles, has anyone done it? It’s not as easy as the fronts

No, everything but the grill was dealer bought, online. Scroll up to the first post on this page, post #61 (or Click Here). I provided links to the sources with screenshots of the prices. If I can and won't break the bank, OEM only...the grill at the time was like $400-$500 with garnish, so I skimped out on that, but did buy the OEM garnish, and so far, you couldn't tell the difference, I think the quality is superb being an aftermarket Pro Grill replica. Ebay stuff is fake/counterfeit and poor workmanship...(not always) but for things where fitment and tolerance could be an issue, injection molding isn't all subjected to the same QA/QC process. That's a big deal for me.
