You guys are probably right, this is why I ask. Thanks for weighing in on this.

 

The argument behind it sticking out though Is if you are in rocks and you have to press that front corner into a rock or mound that bumper sticking out will protect the fender there.

I think the argument is if the bumper sticks out past the fender will it protect it

 

So let’s stick my bumper on your truck and go crashing to the same dirt berm again

 

oh yeah, it would have saved the fender probably or at least cut the damage in half. Assuming it was a bumper with hoops that stick out, if it was just a bumper I doubt it would have done much. Only the corner of my stock bumper got scraped.

yeah it probably would have, it's hard to say 100% because the dirt wall was sort of soft so the corner of that bumper my have just gone straight into it and not really done much

Ha, that’s funny. They’re redoing a billboard on I-80/101 through downtown San Francisco and this ad for a 1989 Ford Thunderbird was stuck on it.

Yes because the Ford Thunderbird is truly a vehicle that has stood the test of time and is so influential, in fact, it has deserved to be advertised for 30 years.
