What ladder rack is that? I am seriously considering one. I too do not baby my truck - I use the bed a lot for saddles, hay and kayaking/camping gear. I'm considering a rack to carry extra kayaks but not sure I want the rack on all the time. Also with the rack on can you go through auto car washes (I'm too lazy to wash it myself - usually run it through an auto once a week.).

I wondered - thanks - I am debating on a mat as well...just not sure - I actually like the fact that as I load unload saddles and horse tack the stuff slides in and out easily. I mainly would like a bed mat for my knees when I am in the bed getting stuff, but am going back and forth. I was going to buy one last Thursday - but before I left I saw my my son loaded some hatchet targets in the bed (large diameter cuts of heavy wood) and I wanted them out - I was alone so I had to slide the pieces to get them off...it made me wonder about the mat, LOL.

I've been very happy with it, bought for kayaks but use it all the time for other stuff too. Easy to remove and put back on.

I haven't taken it thru a car wash but it's very stout, still if it we me I'd only chance a touchless wash.

What is equally bad is when you are hauling some furniture/lumber and the dude behind you tailgates you.

I had a full mattress and full box spring, strapped down pretty good. This guy tailgated me for like 10 miles. I went like 20 below speed limit wouldn't budge.

I wanted to pull over but I half expected them to pull over with me and then it would have been awkward.

What's with the tarp? SOOOOOO much easier to shovel out when the shovel can actually slide on the bed.

Remove the dirt not touching the tarp. Then drag the excess out by the tarp. Makes for easy cleanup.

You're doing it the hard way.
Shovel will glide on the bed.

The tarp method FTW. Especially with leaves on a trailer.
