Everyone? Assuming everyone who bought2016s and 2017s still hate their trucks. Because people on the forum said so.

OP just wait for 2020 model. Honestly if I were to come on here posting before buying I would have never bought my truck. It's not perfect but I enjoy every bit of it.

Seriously, I don’t under why people are so sensitive if someone likes something they don’t have. I own a 18 and have owned an 95, two 09s and like all of them.

The issue is the continued trend of every single time someone makes a thread wanting to trade in their 2nd gen for a 3rd, 2nd gen owners come out of the woodwork and start shitting on the 3rd gen. Almost like it's some kind of personal offense to their vehicle if someone wants to upgrade to the new gen.

It's as fascinating as it is annoying. I've never seen it on any other auto forum I've ever been part of. Corvettes, Mustangs, Frontier, etc. - I've never seen it where some owners of the previous gen seem to have some kind of mental trigger when someone wants to move to the new gen.

Oh no. You used the word "upgrade". They are sensitive to that.

On the flip side of that are the third gen owners who get into a frenzy when someone suggests a 2015 is a better truck than a 2016. For instance, because the 2016 clearly tows better at redline up a twisting mountain hill climb test run. Even though no one in their right mind would abuse their vehicle or risk other people's lives driving like that.

Don't get me wrong, I was at the dealership only yesterday looking at a 2019 Pro and a 2019 TRD OR in Cavalry Blue. Very nice trucks. Too bad we can't get TRD OR Quad Cab Short Box in Canada with a stick shift. I would have a big decision to make.

Even tows better off redline. Doesn't need redline to keep pace with 2nds. I found like 80% throttle while 2nd bogs out.

I do see it happen on most forums. It seems to be a natural response for people to hate on the "new" model because if they can get a following of others who also hate on it...it makes them feel better about the older model that they have. It is a kind of jealously, and is a part of human nature...always has been, and always will be.

I could have bought a 2016 when I bought my 2015. I’ve been in the car scene long enough to know better than to buy the first year of a redesign/model. I chose the 2015 and was debating seeing how the 3rd gen performs and then trading up.

After seeing how the 3rd gen performs, there’s no way in hell I’d trade out of my 2nd gen.

This. With the interest in the loan, you could be paying an extra $2500.

It's only a good deal if they sell it to you without the extras.

Sell your 2nd gen privately and you could also get quite a bit more.Sometimes is worth trading in due to a tax credit but the lower priced vehicle, the less it is worth it.

The way 3rds are selling I could sell it and downgrade to a 2nd big $$$ left over. I dumped my 2015. Hated the interior and when I saw the 3rd could keep speed with my haul, it went.

Yea I like the 3rd gen interior way more tbh. I don’t like all the hunting the transmission does (in both gens, but more in the 3rd) and I don’t trust the platform. Especially with all the issues in 2016. To each their own.

Edit: honestly though, bickering aside, the resale value is the best thing about these trucks. Regardless of the gen, they hold value like none other. You’re never really stuck

Yup. That’s why I went with the last year until I saw how they played out.
