@rj15tacoma just curious, did you create the questions yourself or were they assigned?

I would hope he generated the questions. If not, and he was given the questions to generate a survey what’s the incentive to generate thought on the matter and the lesson that’s being taught?

Here’s questions, go generate a survey. You’ll be graded on if you met the criteria.

Or, generate several questions and generate a survey on a topic that’s controversial and where people have divided options. Have a small group take the survey and analyze the results.

I created all the questions, no, there isn't any place in the survey where you can speak your opinion, and I meant fully automatic weapons, not semi autos like ar 15's. I know the survey is short and broad, but im sick and tired of this AP crap and want to be done with it ASAP.

I would hope so as well, but you never know.

I have done that, and I agree it's not easy. To make a good survey it takes a lot of work. If he generated the questions himself I was going to give him some constructive (non-political) criticism.

What the project is is that I'm gonna analyze the outcome of this survey and then write an essay showing how it relates or goes against laws that have recently been passed in my state, which is California.

Excellent. Some of the questions could have been worded better. Take the first one "Would you like to live in a gun free California?" What if someone's desire to live, or not live, in California has nothing to do with gun rights? They would have a hard time answering it accurately. Say, someone is a supporter of gun rights, but loves California so much they would live there anyway, and still "like" it. Or if someone would like to live in a gun free state, just not California.

I think the biggest lesson you may end up learning from this is that making good surveys is real hard, and even if you make a good one, some people aren't going to like it.

Why? How many crimes are committed with fully automatic weapons? They have always been legal to own, just requires a little more paperwork. They are not the problem.

A lot of people own fully automatic weapons. 30,000 legally owned automatic weapons in CA. Why exactly do you want those law abiding citizens to give them up?

Also, is there anything that prevents people from taking the survey more than once? I did not attempt to because I don't want to skew your results. If there is no mechanism in place to prevent it, it wouldn't surprise me if someone that feels strongly on the subject, and has poor ethics, would take it 100 times in an attempt to slant the results.

"Do Californians have the right to bear arms" I know what the questions is trying to ask, and in theory yes, but in practice not really.

Let’s keep the topic to the survey and constructive feedback on it, let’s not politicize the content of the survey.

Help the OP with how to build a survey and analyze the data.

Could the questions have been worded better, yes. But considering they were created by a high school student he didn't do a half bad job. Better job than most of the media ever does with surveys on this subject.
