Roam Adventure Rugged case mounting

So I recently purchased this rugged case.



My plan is to secure it to the bed, almost like a tool box.

I emailed the company that makes them and they weren't really sure.
I was thinking maybe drilling holes into the box itself that go into the bed and putting long bolts with lock washers on the underside of the truck.

Any ideas?

 

use fender washers in the box & the bed. consider ratchet straps over the whole box in perpendicular manner, attached to footloops through the bed with the aforementioned fender washers.

Yeah I was thinking rubber washers in the box to maintain waterproofing, then the steel washers between the box and bed, and under the truck. Wing nuts so I can remove quickly if necessary. In my area, it would get stolen if I made it easy for people. 1/4 hole for the bolts.

 

Will you remove it when not in use ??

Don`t get carried away install some tie downs use ratchets straps and be done

Different if it gets installed and never removed

 

Plan on installing it full time and keeping it secure from thief. The only times I would remove it would be the rare occasions I need to put large items in the back.

If you plan it right, you can use it for load tiedowns as well as they offer threaded stud mounts to support your idea.

I actually love this idea. But 2 questions, if I drilled them into the channels of the bed with the supplied hardware, would it stay secure, of would I have to go under the bed and put washers on?

And second, the bolts they show on the site that go into the channels wouldn’t be long enough to go up into the box. Unless they have longer bolts that I’m not seeing

 

You would go under and install the tracks, but it would be a 1 time install kind of deal.

And yeah, I went and looked at that case. That casing is super thick.

 

I don’t mind keeping the track in there. Especially if I gain tie down points for the future and if it sits flush between the bed groves. And I don’t have measurements for the thickness of the box. But if I can get a bolt that goes into that track and fits into the box to bolt it down, I’m sold.

 

Well if you do (ext height - int height)/2 it says about an inch think.

 

Bought the L-track. Gonna try and see if that works. Unfortunately those bolts are the longest ones they make, so gotta at least try. I’ll post pics

 

I like it. I use a military one I’ve had for years, perfect size. I’d like to secure it semi-permanent but always end up changing shit up. Staying tuned to how you get it mounted.

 

Just got the box in, gonna try to set it up for install on Sunday or Monday




From the build, I am satisfied with the box itself. Nothing crazy but for the price I think it’s great especially compared to those boxes in the 5-600 dollar range. My only issue is, when opting for the gas lid struts, they don’t come assembled to the box, have to install them yourself. Which wouldn’t be that bad, but they use rivets. Which now means I have to go buy a rivet gun. Just more hassle then I expected.

 

is it possible to mount it on short pieces of 2" or 4" x 4" so you can carry longish pieces of anything slid underneath?

I’m gonna be going with L-tracks in the groves of the bed. My only issue now is trying to figure out a bolt solution that’s long enough to go into the box. The only L-track bolts they sell aren’t long enough.

The L-tracks give me the ability to remove the box easily whenever I need to

I see. No wasn’t stolen, I was using my rack/tire carrier when we went to TN for a wheeling event. Ended up giving to my baby brother for his birthday gift, and drove home without mine since I don’t use it with the carrier.
