So had to drop off my truck at the dealership today for repairs. Have 4,500 miles on the truck in the first two month of our purchase and already having issues.

In stop and go traffic the truck suddenly read empty after I had just left the gas station and filled up completely full .

The engine also started having this random ticking noise when running, almost sounds like a diesel engine.

Lastly I hope they finally do the tsb for the shudder/shaking I feel when slowing down.

I love the truck but having issues like this on a $50,000 truck is definitely a pain. Anyone else have these issues with their truck?

Diesel engine sound is the Atkinson cycle. I do however get the shudder/shaking while slowing down!

Sounds like your gauge/sending unit is messed up.

The ticking is probably the injectors self cleaning, perfectly normal.

Is the shudder when applying brakes? If so, you probably have some deposits building up on the discs from braking hard and holding at the stop. If no brakes are being applied, first guess is tire balance.

    Try the search function.

    Welcome aboard.

Yep, the ticking noise is probably the high pressure fuel pump self cleaning the injectors during a hot cycle.

$37K is an average car price so 50K is around average for a truck plus a tad.
Raptors go for 90K. Times have changed and so has pricing. Can you find a lower priced truck ?
The gas gauge sender can be fixed, shudder has been covered in other topics / no bigee, and the tic is a cleaning cycle.
All is good. calm down. Sleep well.

The sticker on my truck was $47,000 (rounding up) ... I'm sure other dealers probably sold it for less but that was the best deal I found back in November and I had to place in an order and wait 3 months to get it

I appreciate the response though, I'm not super worried about the issues since the dealership is working with me and not giving me a hard time about anything. Just venting out my minor frustration/concerns. At the end of the day I do love the truck and just want it to work properly so that I'm able to start making it my own

3.5L sounds like a diesel. It’s part of it’s charm.

No that’s brand new and sitting on the lot. That shit probably happens in California. Also the price would probably be 10k higher for “market adjustment”

    Damn 50k..yikes:eek:
Minus the gas issue everyrhing you described is a common trait of the Tacoma’s. As far as I know there is no TSB for the jerk in the shifting when slowing down. Engine is supposed to sound like that. Electronics are always finicky, which yours is plagued with now. Would recommend getting an extended warranty or seeing if they can work something because if that gas issue. You did test drive before you purchased correct?

Test drove it the day it was delivered to the dealership with 2 miles and drove it again the day I picked it up (they had to install the clear bra and aluminum step). No electric issues until Thursday. They also have a tsb 0023-19 for the shuddering while braking, so hopefully that fixes the issue.

Thanks OP, this thread makes me feel better about my truck, same issues as yours, except gas gauge. If it is all normal, I’ll quit worrying so much. Maybe, stodgy old men like me don’t change often or easily.

Sounds like you’re in pretty good shape, and likely the fuel issue will be easily fixed. Once these minor issues are sorted out you’ll be in for many t outlet free miles. Enjoy your truck.
