I ran a set of LT265/70R18 tires on my Tundra for about 10,000 miles. The treadwear was absolutely dreadful and chunks of polyester were missing from the sidewall by the time I threw them out. Traffic on wet roads was sub-par and mediocre off-road.

    I had 2 sets of KO2s prior to my St Maxx. I went from a 32" KO2 to a 33" (skinny) STMaxx.

I never had any issues with getting a flat tire with the KO2s on either set, both E rated and I used them pretty hard. KO2s are very rugged in that respect. They do have a tendency to chunk up pretty bad though. The ST Maxx are better at staying intact.

My first wheeling trip with my ST Maxx I blew out a sidewall on one (also E rated) by rounding it on a sharp rock. Was pretty bummed at first but it's been several months and hasn't happened again so I think it was a freak incident.

Overall I like the ST Maxx better. Traction wise they feel about the same to me, neither performs well in mud but they aren't MT tires. I feel like the STMaxx have a slight edge traction wise especially in rain.

Kind of noisey but I like it. Let's just say I haven't needed 4 Wheel Drive at all yet this year. They are awesome in the snow.

Lol i got a little over 20k out of the Coopers and i loved them...but they were special order only at the shops here so i tried something new. These were $350 cheaper than a new set of ST Maxx.

That’s because they’re driving out the most miserable of roads off of 50 and 7. Terrible ass driving.

KO2s and S/T Maxx are two very different tires. KO2 is an AT.. the other is a little something a little more into that new hybrid segment, but I’ve read that the S/T Maxx are the best in that range.

I was debating the S/T Maxx against the AT3 XLT, and picked the XLT to see how they’d do, and they can be purchased around $725 currently. If they don’t do well, I’ll go more aggressive next set.

Yeah I know the spot. I’m from Sistersville so I’ve driven 7 a lot. I now take 79/50/16/2 to get home. Same time almost, cell service, and I’m not gonna disappear in a pot hole.

As much as I’d rather take a 2 lane somewhere. I travel the interstate as much as possible anymore to avoid potholes

How do the Falken MTs compare traction wise to the maxxs in wet/snow/offroad?

Thats hard for me to answer but i’ll do my best.

These Falkens decimate snow. We had a rough winter and i worked these tires pretty hard. Never was i worried unless there was ice. There was a trail that i did, in 5-8” of snow that someone had been on a day or two before me. Their tracks were ice, so i had to break my own trail in and back out, staying out of the ditches and out of their icy ruts. The tires did phenominal.

I’m sure the coopers would’ve worked fine in that situation too.

I did have one rock shelf that I climb from time to time, that i could not get up with the Falkens. The coopers had no problem. But these falkens don’t like shale and rocky conditions.
Here is a video of the coopers working well on the rock shelf:
    https://youtu.be/JVTd8GwO-tA

The conclusion i’m coming to is, you can spend a little more money and get a quieter tire, that looks cooler and does everything well... (the coopers).

    Or

You can have a loud, cheaper tire, that handles mud and snow great. Has decent high way manners but again, is loud. They are grippier in the wet than the coopers. The coopers were fun to me because i could spin them and slide them any time i wanted to. These falkens just want to dig in and go. They do not like to spin, no matter the surface. They’re like having paddle tires in sand, all they want to do is hook and go.

They are great for the money, but next time i’m going ST maxx again, or AT3Ws

Been on the St Maxxes for two years now, I love them, Hands down the best tire Iv'e ever had on any truck. Reinforced sidewalls are the shit! I live in a volcanic rock area and they're tough as balls. They did pull to the right slightly when new but nothing we couldn't deal with. I will be buying another set when these wear down!

I do not like the Cooper AT3s

Spend the extra money and go Maxx if you’re down to those two choices.
