    I went with an Australian valve body. Wholesale Automatic Transmission. I had a vibration issue and the valve body plus flushing the the trans took care of that issue. IMO, Ratiotek cannot manage the supercharger like a valve body upgrade. :crapstorm:

    So quick question one of you all in guys probably knows, I changed my coolant tonight and swapped in the URD 170f thermostat so when does the thermostat go wide open? I know 170f means it starts to open then but when is full flow reached? I’m only asking because I’ve had my truck plug the radiator off-road and I like knowing when and if the thermostat is wide open lol.

    Yeah I did a 20 minute shakedown after finishing flushing air out of the system and my temps never went above 181. It is only 7 c outside though lol.

    I too have the 170* .....my temp never goes above 190 and always averages between 186-190.

    Also, I kept my little jet in.....

    I have the 160* thermostat. I normally see a 175*-185* operating range.

    Do tell your thoughts on this. It was the one time I chose to go average in my adjustments. Is it just too little gain to be effective?

    I steered away from the 160* basically because URD’s info stated not to do the 160 if you live in a colder environment.....or something like that...

    Im running mine without the restrictor. I took mine out, put it back in, and then took it out again because i liked it more without it.

    Im running a 2.6 with UCon, and quick throttle tip ins are much smoother with the restrictor removed. I think a lot of that has to do with having a 6spd though. If you have an auto, might notice less of a difference on that

    Just placed my csf radiator order. Figured I'd get one before the weather puts them on back order. @JuanitoBunito, do you have any pics where your radiator was tapped for a temp fitting?

    I didn’t tap it. I ended up putting the sensor in the top radiator hose. I’ll send ya a pic in a little bit....

    Well given in -20c here my stock thermostat wouldn’t get above 180f sometimes for over 30 minutes, I’d say his warning is probably fair. I’d expect a 160f thermostat to have trouble hitting operational temperatures once the temperature gets near 0f outside.

    Your last sentence is the answer. Those with the below freezing climates are better off with the 170°. To be honest though, it all depends on what restrictions are in front of your radiator, size of radiator, climate, and how you drive.

    The OEM on on a 4Runner, which has better ducting around the radiator, keeps the engine as cool as a Tacoma with the 170°.

    Most people with the 170°, in a Tacoma, notice only a few degrees difference from OEM, if any. Even after a radiator upgrade. Hmm.

    With the 160°, temps actually change to stay in the 170's to low 180's. Well away from the 200's. Where the slightest problem can raise can take the engine to its demise.

    Also consider this. Keeping the engine a little cooler, taxes the oil temps that much less. Aiding in prevention of liquification of the oil (over temp).

    There are inline radiator hose sensor adaptors. Basically cut the hose, insert metal tube with threaded sensor port, reattach hose ends.
