Hey guys, I am new here, and just looking for a few answers. I have a brand new 2019 Tacoma. I have paired my Iphone 6s, and everything works but the messaging. The messages will not transfer to the truck. All my contacts, ringtones, and calls work just fine. It is my understanding that the messages should transfer from the phone to the truck, and it should even be an audio readout of the message. Anyone else experiencing this problem? If you did, how did you fix it, or have you fixed it? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First of all - Welcome! Go into the Bluetooth settings on your phone, then the related settings for your Tacoma. Ensure "Show Notifications" is turned on.

Thanks Mark, I will give that a try. I had the notifications turned on, but then noticed that they were not turned on under the entune app. I hope this works! Thanks again for taking the time to help out!

Do you have the Entune app on your phone?

I’ve noticed on mine that the only time my messages transfer is when I get one while the phone is actually hooked up and active in the truck. In other words, messages that come in while I’m not in the truck won’t show when I get in the vehicle, then turn it so the phone and truck pair. Once paired, if a new message comes in, they’ll then show on th screen. It’s weird but that’s how it works, at least on mine.

I’ll be interested to know as well, I haven’t register to entunes yet either.

I still don’t get the whole Entunes thing. I do have it and when I get in my truck and look at my phone, it’ll have a notice telling me Entune wants to connect to the truck. Whether I ignore it or approve it, either way it’ll work automatically. Not sure why it gives you the stupid notice.

I have tried everything that I can think of. Disconnecting the phone, uninstalling the Entune app, and reinstalling, then linking the phone again. Still no messages come thru. Calls come thru just fine with the pics and ringtones, that I have associated with my contacts. The phone transferred everything, contacts, pics, and ringtones. I just cannot get it to transfer my text messages, and show up like it should. This is driving me nuts! There has to be "something" that I am missing.

Dryfly, I have had people text me while I was in the truck with the phone paired. The messages come to my phone, but it just won't transfer to my truck. From my understanding, it is supposed to. Right now I am having to look at my phone and see the message, while driving (not safe). What good is that? I just want it to work like it is supposed to do.

Mine will notify me when I get a message on my entune but I can't actually see or listen to the message on it. Just click Ignore and check my phone is all I can do. Pretty disappointed with the radio in the truck honestly, insurance gave me a 2018 wrangler as a rental while I was shopping for another Taco, and the radio in it was light years ahead of Entune.

First of all you will need to have the Entune app on your phone and signed in with your account you set up (free of charge). Make sure your bluetooth is on and Entune app is connected to your truck and running in the back ground of your phone. Once your connected go into the Bluetooth settings on your phone, and then select the Toyota Entune info icon (I w/circle around it) MAKE SURE "Show Notifications" is turned on. My messages transfer from the phone to the truck on screen, and it also has audio readout of the message.

    ^ This

It does work eventually. You just have to jump through those hoops. I don’t understand why they can’t just make it simple. Technology has come a long way but often times they complicate crap beyond what is really necessary and that’s what turns people off. We’re not all techies...

For the record, I've had Entune removed for months and I can still toggle on/off the message notifications.

I double checked some additional settings on the truck itself. Go into Settings, Phone, Messaging settings and confirm the appropriate items are checked on

Everything is checked like it's supposed to be. I have even deleted Entune, and my phone still links up just fine. It is just the darned text messages will not come thru. I have an Iphone 6s. I mean, everything else works just fine. Think I should call the dealership, and tell them that I want it fixed?

You could always call your salesman and ask who can help you out if you drop by. Skip the service center hassles
