Hello, fellow taco lovers. I don't currently own a Tacoma, I am on my second Subaru Outback and am seriously considering switching to a Tacoma. I have come very close to purchasing a Tacoma, once on a new brown 2015 TRD OR and again on a new white 2017 TRD OR.

I am leaning towards a new SR Utility or an SR Double Cab V6. Both of my Subarus have been in the 2.5 form, so I am used to extremely slow acceleration. In fact, I bet the 2.7 Tacoma is faster than my 2017 2.5 Outback. I live at 5000' and to get to my parents house, I have a choice of either an 11,000' pass or a 12,000' pass. Both of my 2.5 Outbacks have done fine with high elevation driving, though I certainly didn't win any speed records. I also drive on I-25 in Northern Colorado on a regular basis with the speed limit at 75 and traffic moving at 80. I wonder if the 2.7 Tacoma could handle 80mph on the interstate.

If I were to get a Tacoma, it wouldn't tow anything, it would just haul brush and debris, and on occasion, some camping gear.

Welcome to tw! I sold my subaru and bought a tacoma, I live at 5000 feet aswell and my or taco does great at high speeds. i suggest you do it, you'll love your taco. But do expect a difference in the mpg, because there is a big difference in that area.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!! I am heavily leaning towards model code 7594, It's a Tacoma SR Double Cab 5' Bed V6 4x4 AT. There seems to be some great deals for this specific model code, in the ballpark of $30,000.

I never updated my thread. Purchased an SR DCSB 4x4 V6 back in April...and I am loving it!

    Current mods include:
    265/75/16 tires
    TRD Pro shift knob
    Meso coin holder
    Bed net
    Carhartt seat covers

In the future I can see installing fog lights either from Rigid or Cali Raised.

Around town, it seems like 90% of tacos are TRD OR, and I love spotting other SR’s as they are definitely the minority here.
