Heading to Boise? What brings you this far from NY? I live in meridian, which is 10 minutes from there. That’s quite the drive.

 

So replace spring and possibly shocks as well. Guess I had really focused on the shocks as viewed the bags as augmenting the springs. You both raise a good point in take a look at the leaf pack.
I seem to be running hignher pressure as well to offset the soft stock setup. Thanks.

 

And you need 10-15% tongue weight to minimize sway. I'm not sure I'd want to tow that boat on that trailer.
Although I will say the rear springs on my Gen 3 double cab long bed Off Road tighten up hard after after the first couple inches of compression. Perhaps the Pro's springs have more give and travel for a better offr-road experience?

 

Tongue weight determines rear end squat.....correct balance of trailer load on trailer axle determines tongue weight.

i use an add a leaf from all pro and ride rite air bags. works for me and dont forget to adjust tire pressure with added weight.

I took the drivers side cubby out of the bed and mounted the compressor and controller in it, then put it back in the bed. I'll try and take a picture today and show you what I did.

 

A week after I bought my 2011 I complained about "harsh ride" knowing I would get the heftier springs. The springs were replaced. I tow a camper and various other trailers and have no issues with whatever I need to carry. If you put 1500# in the bed or excessive hitch weight you are overloaded, springs and air bags are not going to fix that there are more things to consider than ride height what are you doing to axle bearings? How can I stop the extra weight? What kind of stress am I putting on the ring and pinion? What to carry more weight get a 3/4 ton.

 

Concerning boat trailers: Not always possible on some trailers. Besides, the trailer will react too quickly while backing up and most people have a problem with doing it anyway when the trailer's axle length is long. YOu gotta' be GOOD to back a short trailer down a boat ramp. Rather, if your front winch stalk is secured with U bolts you might consider moving it back a couple of inches. IF you didn't buy a boat that was under-trailered as so many boats are in the industry. If your boat is already hanging a couple of feet off the bunk boards then don't do it. However, if only a foot or so then moving the boat backwards on the trailer will cantilever the weight off the front somewhat. You'd be surprised how much. Go to a truck stop FIRST, disconnect the trailer from the truck, weight it and see what the tongue weight is FIRST. Then, if it is safe, move the stalk back two inches and go weigh it again. You'll be amazed what two inches will do to help you. It made a huge difference in my tongue weight. No sway.

OR...just put a jackplate on that bad boy and carry on!

Yes, many treat the suspension as an aesthetic feature but most realize it's more than that. Removing sag isn't about payload capacity, it's about restoring travel and enabling the suspension to utilize it's full range of motion. Yes, it's possible to oveload the truck, it was before too, the difference is in how the truck rides with the load you run. Whether that is a boat trailer, offroad gear with rack mounted RTT, or more variying loads, there are several options and one will be best for you and your priorities. Fixed heavy loads are better suited to HD leaf packs, wide ranging loads are a better fit for air bags, AAL's and sumo/timbrens are a simple lighter duty option falling somewhere in between and can be used in addition to an AAL. Tune your suspension to your usage and wallet.

I mounted it all in the driver side bed pocket. The range is 30-40' easily. I've never gone beyond that.
